A safety arrangement for a motor vehicle includes an airbag and a crash sensor system. The airbag is normally folded together in a non-activated basic state and is able to be inflated with different volumes. The crash sensor system detects a vehicle impact and emits an activation signal. The crash sensor system includes both a pre-crash sensor system and also an in-crash sensor system, and emits a pre-crash activation signal as activation signal upon detection of an impending collision. The in-crash sensor system detects an actual impact and emits an in-crash activation signal (backup) if the pre-crash sensor system has previously not detected the impending collision and has not emitted a pre-crash activation signal. The airbag may be inflated to a larger airbag volume and to a relatively smaller airbag volume in an in-crash mode.

Safety arrangement for a vehicle and method for controlling a safety arrangement

A motor vehicle roof with a least one openable roof part ( ) which can be actuated by a drive motor ( ) and at least one temporarily stationary roof part ( ) which supports the openable roof part ( ) in its open position. A motor vehicle roof which makes do without a complex actuation mechanism, which can be easily operated and which can be universally used is formed by a drive motor ( ) actuating the locking and/or unlocking of the temporarily stationary roof part ( ) with reference to an at least temporarily fixed additional roof part, for example, with reference to the rear side columns (B-columns ) of the motor vehicle. Preferably, the side members ( ), which extend between the rear roof part ( ) and a front cross beam ( ) which runs above the windshield on either side of the openable roof part ( ) and which comprise guides ( ) for the openable roof part ( ), are detachably joined to the motor vehicle ( ).

A flexible convertible top (1) of a vehicle with a top material (2) which has a least one layer (4) of a weldable plastic and to which at least one fixed element (5,6,7) is attached. To ensure cost-favorable and modular adjustability of a flexible convertible top, it is provided that a layer (25,26,27) of a plastic which can be directly welded to the plastic layer (4) of top material (2) is provided on at least one surface of the fixed element (5,6,7).

A motor vehicle roof with a cover (3) which can be activated by means of cover mechanism (6) and which selectively closes an opening (2) in a fixed roof surface (1) or at least partially exposes the opening (2) by being raised at its rear edge, achieves increased safety against the cover being forced out to the top and enables the vehicle roof to be configured so as to eliminate height adjustment, by the cover (3) resting in the closed state with both its front edge (4) and its rear edge (5) underlying the fixed roof surface (1). Advantageously, a pretensioning force is exerted by the cover (3) on the fixed roof (1), so that one of these two parts impresses its outline on the other.

Motor vehicle roof

A convertible vehicle roof with a rigid rear roof part (7) and with a rigid rear part (8) which adjoins rear roof part (7), can be moved together with other roof parts (side roof parts 5, cover 6) into a stowage space (19) located in the rear of a vehicle. Compared to known hardtop vehicle roofs, the structure, mounting, sealing and insensitivity to tolerances are improved by the fact that the rear part (8) can be swung forwardly over the rear roof part (7) before they are moved together into the stowage space.

Convertible motor vehicle roof

A motor vehicle roof which can be opened by a motor through various interim stages by operation of a rotary switch about which graphic symbols are arranged which indicate the respective opening stages. The control is suited for triggering complex, openable motor vehicle roofs with several roof components which can be activated partially independently of one another and which can be activated by separate motors, the switch, as it turns in different peripheral areas, triggering individual or multiple motors in succession or at the same time for starting predetermined opening stages.

A vehicle roof with a roof panel (3) that can be pivoted to open, with a window shade (7) that is located under the roof panel (3) for alternately covering or at least partially uncovering the roof panel (3). The window shade (7) can be wound on a roller (8) and is connected to at least one rigid element (10, 24, 25) that runs crosswise to the direction of movement of the shade and is guided in longitudinally running lateral guide elements (11). To reduce the structural height of the vehicle roof or to increase the headroom for the passengers, guide elements (11) for the window shade are raised by a lifting mechanism (14) when window shade (7) is moved in a closing direction and are lowered when it is moved in an opening direction.

Vehicle roof with a roof panel that can be pivoted open

A vehicle roof with two cover elements (2, 3) which selectively close or at least partially expose a roof opening. The front cover element is formed as a wind deflector strip (2) which can be pivot around a pivot axis forming pin (4) located near its front edge and which can be raised at its rear edge above the fixed vehicle roof (1). The rear cover element is designed as sliding cover (3) which can be lowered under the fixed vehicle roof (1) by means of a lowering mechanism and which can be moved under the fixed vehicle roof (1) on slide elements (20, 33) which can be moved along guide rails (18) which are secured to the roof. The wind deflector strip (2) and sliding cover (3) can be actuated by means of a common drive (drive cable 27). At each lateral side of the roof, the sliding cover (3) has front and rear slide elements (20, 33) to which the lowering mechanism is coupled for forced actuation of the two cover elements which, however, is independent of time. Furthermore, there are front and rear auxiliary slide elements (13, 26) which can move relative to the front and rear slide elements (20, 33) and which can be coupled automatically to the respective slide element (20, 33) or to a part secured to the fixed vehicle roof (guide rail 18) by means of locking blocks (15, 30) which can move perpendicularly to the direction of movement of slide elements (20, 33). At the same time, the raising mechanism (6) of the wind deflector strip (2) is coupled to the front auxiliary slide element (13).

Vehicle roof with two cover elements

The invention relates to a vehicle roof with at least one roof cover part that can be opened during driving. This roof part can be moved into at least one open position in the manner of a conventional sliding-lifting roof on roof parts lying laterally to it or on guideways arranged on it in lengthwise direction of the vehicle. Furthermore, after complete opening of the roof part that can be opened, the roof as a whole is able to be placed in a lengthwise compacted configuration and then lowered into a stowage space behind the passenger compartment, whereby the vehicle becomes a fully open convertible-type vehicle without substantially consuming the usually available trunk space. In one set of embodiments, the compacted roof configuration is stored in a vertical orientation. In another embodiment, the compacted roof package is stowed under a rear window, and then the complete package of rear roof part and rear window lowered by retracting the B-columns supporting the rear roof part into a storage space between seats and rear axle.

Vehicle roof

A vehicle roof with at least one roof cover part that can be opened during driving in the manner of a sunroof by being moved into at least one open position on guideways arranged in roof parts lying laterally to it in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle. A rear roof part that is stationary, at least during this sunroof mode of operation, is fixed with the lateral roof parts and can be moved with them and the cover part into a storage space in the rear part of the vehicle to expose a convertible-type roof opening. Supporting B-columns are movable in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle, and the rear roof part is mounted to them in a pivotable manner. By pivoting the rear roof part and subsequent pivoting of the B-columns, only a very small storage space is required between the seats and the rear axle for stowage of the roof.
