The release device for multiple release compressed air brakes of railborne vehicles comprises a pressure reduction valve (12) which responds in the case of rapid brake applications and optionally of full brake applications, which in order to facilitate the brake release procedure and to accelerate the pressurization of the brake cylinder (13) feeds compressed air from the reference pressure chamber of the triple pressure control valve (2) into the brake cylinder (13). In addition, a sensor valve (25) is provided which, being monitored by an overflow valve (23) which only responds after at least full brake applications having been applied, is adapted to feed brake pressure from the brake cylinder (13) into the main air pipe (1). A feed valve (47) ensures in this context that any air supplementation from the air storage vessel (9) into the brake cylinder (13) through the triple pressure control valve (2) which is still in the brake application position, due to an interruption of that connection, is prevented; such air supplementation facility is not released by the feed valve (47) before the triple control valve 2 has been switched to its released position. The release device facilitates brake release and brake acceleration, in particular in the case of long trains, while saving air.

The present invention discloses a maximum pressure control device for the brake cylinder pressure that is to be supplied to a brake cylinder and this device can consist of two separate pressure control devices or be constructed as a unified, reversible pressure control device. The selection of one of the active pressure control devices or changeover of the switchable maximum pressure control device results from a main brake line pressure acting against a spring loaded control piston which, depending on the main brake line pressure, can switch off the pressure control function of the maximum pressure control device for the low (service) or high (emergency) brake cylinder pressure. The control piston when functioning as an actuated cut off device can be mechanically coupled with a pressure control device by means of a stop coupling or pneumatic coupling. As a result, the control piston is not able to exert any negative effect on the control precision of the maximum pressure control device.

Brake control valve device for an air pressure brake system of a railway

A pressure control valve for the compressed air brakes of a railway vehicle includes a triple pressure control valve with a constant pressure chamber, a selector valve and a selector reservoir. Upon the occurrence of pressure reductions in the main brake line for service braking, the selector valve selector remains at rest. When stronger pressure reductions in the main brake line occur, the selector valve evacuates the selector reservoir which lags in relation to the main brake line pressure as result of the force exerted by a pre-stressed spring until a specific minimum pressure is attained by a retention valve. In a subsequent brake release, the selector valve will produce a pressure balance between the constant pressure chamber and the selector reservoir to facilitate the brake release process and a balancing or proportioning of the pressure control valve at an optionally reduced normal pressure head in the main brake line. The selector valve includes a piston retained in a middle position by a spring buffer and by two valves positioned on both sides of the piston and spring loaded in their respective closing directions. On one side, the piston is loaded by the main brake line pressure and on the other side by the pressure in the selector reservoir.

Selector valve for a pressure control device in a railway vehicle air

An accelerator for control valves, particularly for triple pressure control valves (3) of pneumatic brake systems of rail vehicles, having a pick-up accelerator (30) and a transfer chamber (40) as well as a service brake accelerator (52), the service brake accelerator (52) having a reference pressure chamber (55) which is connected to the transfer chamber (40) of the pick-up accelerator, the transfer chamber having a bleeder nozzle which is not open at all times. As a result, the service brake accelerator (52) is activated only during braking operations, while the reference pressure chamber (55) is protected from filling strokes, the volumes which are in continuous connection with the air main (1) are reduced, and the air consumption is lowered, especially during brake release operations. Service brake accelerators (52) of any desired construction may be used, especially, however, service brake accelerators which, during pressure reductions within the air main (1), draw off pulsating pressurized air from the latter.

Accelerator for control valves, especially for triple pressure control

Release valve apparatus capable of being actuated by the vacuum that can be created in a main air line (1) for indirect air brakes of rail vehicles, comprising a release valve (12) in a connection (pipes 8, 9) from the brake control valve (3) to the brake cylinder (10). The release valve (12) contains a piston controlled two-way valve (24, 27, 28), which unblocks the passage in the off position of the release valve (12). In the actuated position, on the other hand, it blocks passage and vents the connecting segment (pipe 9) on the brake cylinder side. The piston (13) of the release valve (12) is loaded in the off position operating on a smaller piston area by main air line pressure, and by opposing pressure in an admission area (15) which is under atmospheric pressure in the off position and during the switching process to the operating position, and in this position is impacted by pressure in the connecting segment (pipe 8) leading to the brake control valve (3). The release valve apparatus assures switching back from the operating to the off position when the pressure rises again in the main air line only after the brake control valve (3) has been switched to its release position; the release valve apparatus is therefore capable of being used both for graduated air brakes and for direct-release air brakes without having to accept an unnecessary pressure loss.

Release valve apparatus for indirect air brakes of rail vehicles

A pressure medium controlling valve has a valve member with an annular groove being formed in the surface of the valve member directed toward a valve seat. A resilient sealing ring is disposed within the annular groove and is opposed from the valve seat. The side of the annular groove facing toward the pressure medium is cylindrical and is engaged by the end of a resilient sealing lip attached to the outer peripheral surface of the sealing ring. The sealing lip extends angularly outwardly away from the sealing ring and toward the surface of the valve member directed toward the valve seat so that the outer end of sealing lip abuts resiliently against the cylindrical surface of the groove to form a seal therewith. The other side of the annular groove is provided with an undercut which receives a correspondingly shaped portion of the sealing ring.

Valve seal for a pressure medium controlling valve

An accelerator device for a three-pressure control valve of an air brake system on a railway vehicle has a control piston one side of which is subjected to air line pressure and the other side to pressure in a control chamber such that when the pressure in the control chamber predominates the control piston opens an accelerator valve between the air line pressure and a valve chamber. A monitor valve is between the valve chamber and a transfer chamber which continuously communicates to the atmosphere through a throttle orifice. A first piston operates the monitor valve and is subjected in the closing direction of the monitor valve to the action of braking pressure against the effect of a spring force. A second piston which is coupled to the first piston is loaded by air-line-pressure acting in the closing direction of the monitor valve against the pressure in a chamber which can be filled with air line pressure through a check valve opening in the direction of flow of the air line pressure and having a throttle orifice therein.
