A system has an input and an output. The system includes a voltage converter, including first transistor coupled to the input and to a first switching node, second transistor coupled to the first switching node and to ground, third transistor coupled to a second switching node and to the output, fourth transistor coupled to the second switching node and to ground, and an inductor having a first terminal coupled to the first switching node and a second terminal coupled to the second switching node. The system also includes a controller coupled to the voltage converter, the controller including a state machine and a plurality of drivers to control the transistors of the voltage converter. The state machine is adaptable to cause the second and fourth transistors to conduct and the first and third transistors not to conduct, in response to current through the inductor being less than a current threshold.

4-phase buck-boost converter

An electrical system includes: 1) a buck converter; 2) a battery coupled to an input of the buck converter; and 3) a load coupled to an output of the buck converter. The buck converter includes a high-side switch, a low-side switch, and regulation loop circuitry coupled to the high-side switch and the low-side switch. The regulation loop circuitry includes: 1) a main comparator; 2) a bias current source coupled to the main comparator and configured to provide a bias current to the main comparator; and 3) a dynamic biasing circuit coupled to the main comparator and configured to add a supplemental bias current to the bias current in 100% mode of the buck converter. The supplemental bias current varies depending on an input voltage (VIN) and an output voltage (VOUT) of the buck converter.

A buck-boost converter includes a voltage input terminal, a voltage output terminal, a first switch, a second switch, an inductor, a third switch, and an auxiliary capacitor. The first switch includes a first terminal coupled to the voltage input terminal, and a second terminal. The second switch includes a first terminal coupled to the voltage output terminal, and a second terminal. The inductor is coupled between the second terminal of the first switch and the second terminal of the second switch. The third switch includes a first terminal coupled to the second terminal of the second switch, and a second terminal. The auxiliary capacitor is coupled to the second terminal of the third switch.

Systems, methods, and circuitries are provided for generating an acceleration current in response to a threshold temperature being reached. In one example, temperature based acceleration current source circuitry includes a first temperature sensitive device, a second temperature sensitive device, differential trigger circuitry, and an acceleration current source. The first temperature sensitive device is configured to generate a first signal that varies responsive to temperature changes at a first rate. The second temperature sensitive device is configured to generate a second signal that varies responsive to temperature changes at a second rate. The differential trigger circuitry is configured to generate a trigger signal based on a difference between the first signal and the second signal. The acceleration current source circuitry is configured to output an acceleration current in response to the trigger signal.

A switching converter circuit includes a voltage regulation loop configured to provide an output voltage (VOUT) based on an input voltage (VIN). The switching converter circuit also includes a 100% mode circuitry coupled to the voltage regulation loop, wherein the 100% mode circuitry is configured to apply an offset to VOUT in response to detecting that VIN is approaching VOUT.

Low quiescent current buck converter with direct feedback

A controller includes a comparator having an inverting input coupled to a voltage converter output, a non-inverting input coupled to a voltage source, and an output. The controller includes a timer having a start input coupled to the converter that indicates that current through a converter inductor is less than a threshold; a stop input coupled to the comparator output; and an output having a digital value corresponding to the time between receiving asserted signals at start input and at stop input. The controller includes a time comparator having a first input coupled to the timer output and a second input to receive a time value. The time comparator asserts one of its outputs based on the digital and time values. The controller includes an accumulator coupled to the time comparator outputs, the accumulator configured to maintain, increase, or decrease an output value based on the asserted time comparator output.

A switching converter circuit includes a hysteretic comparator with a reference voltage (VREF) node and a feedback node. The switching converter circuit also includes a switchable error amplifier circuit coupled to the feedback node of the hysteretic comparator. The switchable error amplifier circuit includes an error amplifier that is coupled to the feedback node during a power-save mode and that is decoupled from the feedback node during a deep power-save mode initiated in response to a duration of the power-save mode being greater than a time threshold.

An electrical system includes: 1) a buck converter; 2) a battery coupled to an input of the buck converter; and 3) a load coupled to an output of the buck converter. The buck converter includes a high-side switch, a low-side switch, and regulation loop circuitry coupled to the high-side switch and the low-side switch. The regulation loop circuitry includes a comparator with preamplifier gain adjustment circuitry configured to adjust a preamplifier gain of the comparator based on an overdrive voltage.
