A recording medium is moved to a transfer printing station and print images are transfer-printed. The recording medium is transported to a fixing station. A print stop is initiated whereby the recording medium is halted, a further transfer printing is prevented, and a fixing is deactivated. It is checked whether a transfer-printed but unfixed page is still located in the printing apparatus. If so, a warning notification is automatically generated. A query is made as to whether an operating command has been input. If so, it is checked whether the unfixed page would also be output unfixed. If no, the operating command is executed. If yes, the print stop is automatically maintained. It is also inspected as to whether the unfixed page would be output upon execution of an additional operating command. If no, the additional operating command is executed. If yes, an error message is automatically generated.

Printing system and method for handling unfixed pages in such a printing system

In a method or device for control of a printer or copier, a series of discrete signal states is generated with which a drive unit for conveyance of a carrier material to be printed is controlled. A control signal is generated to end the conveyance of the carrier material. Based on the control signal, the generated series of the discrete signal states is changed at an earliest with a changed signal state following the control signal. A positioning error of the carrier material is caused due to a time period between the control signal and the changed signal state is detected.

Device and method for control of a printer or copier through controlling signals

The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for generating positionally-accurate print images on a carrier material with the aid of an electrophotographic printer or copier. A positioning error of the position of the carrier material with respect to a toner image present on the toner image carrier is determined, which error occurs during the contacting of a carrier material to be printed. Dependent on the positioning error determined, for every subsequent contacting of the carrier material to be printed with the toner image carrier, the position of the carrier material with respect to the toner image is adapted before the contacting such that the carrier material and the toner image are arranged with respect to one another substantially free of positioning errors.
