A transceiver suitable for frequency division duplex (FDD) communication is disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, a transmitter leakage reduction circuit for a transceiver is described. The transmitter leakage reduction circuit comprises an auxiliary power amplifier, first and second filters, and a signal transmission arrangement. The auxiliary power amplifier is configured to provide an auxiliary power amplifier output signal that represents an output signal of a power amplifier of the transmitter with a controllable phase shift or gain output. The first and second filters are configured to attenuate any signals in the receive frequency band of the respective power amplifier output signal and auxiliary power amplifier output signal. The signal transmission arrangement is configured to suppress a contribution of the power amplifier output signal from a signal received from an RF connecting point using the auxiliary power amplifier output signal to obtain a received signal that is input to the receiver.

Transmitter receiver leakage reduction in a full duplex system without the use of a duplexer

A transceiver front-end for a communication device is connectable to a signal transmission and reception arrangement adapted to transmit a transmit signal having a transmit frequency and to receive a receive signal having a receive frequency. The transceiver front-end is also connectable to a transmitter adapted to produce the transmit signal, and to a receiver adapted to process the receive signal. The transceiver front-end comprises a transmit frequency suppression filter arrangement and a receive frequency suppression filter arrangement. The transmit frequency suppression filter arrangement is adapted to suppress transfer of a signal having the transmit frequency and to pass a signal having the receive frequency. The receive frequency suppression filter arrangement is adapted to suppress transfer of a signal having the receive frequency and to pass a signal having the transmit frequency. The transceiver front-end also comprises a transmit frequency cancellation arrangement and a receive frequency cancellation arrangement. The transmit frequency cancellation arrangement is adapted to produce a first cancellation signal for cancellation, at receiver nodes, of a suppressed signal having the transmit frequency, transferred by the transmit frequency suppression filter arrangement. The receive frequency cancellation arrangement is adapted to produce a second cancellation signal for cancellation, at signal transmission and reception arrangement nodes of a suppressed signal having the receive frequency, transferred by the receive frequency suppression filter arrangement. Corresponding transceiver, communication device and method are also disclosed.

Transceiver front-end

A transceiver arrangement comprises a receiver arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with a communication network; a transmitter arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with the communication network; an transmission port for connecting to an antenna; a balancing impedance circuit arranged to provide an adaptive impedance arranged to mimic the impedance at the transmission port; and a filtering arrangement, which comprises filters of a first type and filters of a second type, connecting the receiver, transmitter, transmission port and balancing impedance circuit. The filters of the first type are arranged to pass signals at transmitter frequency and attenuate signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the transmission port and between the receiver and the balancing impedance circuit. The filters of the second type are arranged to attenuate signals at transmitter frequency and pass signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the balancing impedance circuit and between the receiver and the transmission port. A communication device, a method of operating the transceiver, and a computer program are also disclosed.

Transceiver arrangement, communication device, method and computer program

A down-conversion circuit for a receiver circuit is disclosed, the down-conversion circuit comprises a first passive switching mixer arranged to down-convert a received radio frequency, RF, signal with a first local oscillator, LO, signal (LO) having a first duty cycle for generating a first down-converted signal at an output port of the first passive switching mixer. The down-conversion circuit further comprises a second passive switching mixer arranged to down-convert the received RF signal with a second LO signal (LO) having the same LO frequency as the first LO signal (LO) and a second duty cycle, different from the first duty cycle, for generating a second down-converted signal at an output port of the second passive switching mixer. In addition, the down-conversion circuit comprises a passive output combiner network operatively connected to the output ports of the first passive switching mixer and the second passive switching mixer and arranged to combine the first and the second down-converted signals such that harmonically down-converted signal content present in the first down-converted signal and harmonically down-converted signal content present in the second down-converted signal cancel in a combined output signal of the down-conversion circuit. The passive output combiner network is tunable to adjust magnitudes and phases of the first and the second down-converted signals. A related quadrature down-conversion circuit, a related receiver circuit, a related communication device, and a related calibration method are also disclosed.

Down-conversion circuit

A transceiver suitable for frequency duplex division communication is disclosed. The transceiver comprises a transmitter, wherein the transmitter comprises a power amplifier; a receiver; an auxiliary power amplifier which is arranged to provide a controllable phase shift and gain output; a first filter arranged at an output of the power amplifier arranged to attenuate frequencies at a receiving frequency of the receiver; a second filter arrangement at an output of the auxiliary power amplifier arranged to attenuate frequencies at a receiving frequency of the receiver; and a signal transmission arrangement. The signal transmission arrangement is arranged to transmit signals provided from the transmitter through its power amplifier to a radio frequency, RF, connecting point, receive signals from the RF connecting point and provide the signals to the receiver, and provide signals from the auxiliary amplifier towards an input of the receiver. The transceiver also comprises a controller, wherein the controller is arranged to control the auxiliary power amplifier output to provide a signal that has a phase and amplitude in relation to the output of the power amplifier of the transmitter such that the transmitter contribution to the signal at the input of the receiver is suppressed. A method of controlling the transceiver, a communication device and computer program are also disclosed.

A transceiver arrangement comprises a receiver arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with a communication network; a transmitter arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with the communication network; a transmission port for connecting to an antenna or wire; a first filter connected between an output of the transmitter and the transmission port and arranged to pass signals at transmitter frequency and attenuate signals at receiver frequency; a transformer having a primary winding and a secondary winding, wherein the primary winding has one of its terminals connected to the transmission port; a second filter connected between another of the terminals of the primary winding and a reference voltage and arranged to attenuate signals at transmitter frequency and pass signals at receiver frequency; and an adaptive impedance circuit arranged to provide an adjustable resistance, connected between the output of the transmitter and the junction between the second filter and the another of the terminals of the primary winding, and arranged to provide a contribution from the transmitter to the primary winding such that a common-mode rejection of a contribution from the transmitter provided at the transmission port occurs at receive frequency. A communication device, a method of controlling a transceiver arrangement, and a computer program are also disclosed.

A transceiver arrangement comprising a receiver and a transmitter arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with a communication network, a transmission port for connecting to an antenna, a balancing impedance circuit arranged to provide an adaptive impedance arranged to mimic the impedance at the transmission port, a filtering arrangement connecting the receiver, transmitter, transmission port and balancing impedance circuit, and a common-mode signal reduction circuit is disclosed. The filter arrangement comprises filters of a first type arranged to pass signals at transmitter frequency and attenuate signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the transmission port and between the receiver and the balancing impedance circuit, and filters of a second type arranged to attenuate signals at transmitter frequency and pass signals at receiver frequency and are connected between the transmitter and the balancing impedance circuit and between the receiver and the transmission port. The common-mode signal reduction circuit comprises an inverting amplifier, the input of the inverting amplifier is provided by a voltage division between a first and a second impedance where the first and second impedance have equal impedances, and the output of the amplifier is provided to junction of a third and a fourth impedance where the third and fourth impedances have equal impedances, and the first and second impedances, and the third and fourth impedances, respectively, are connected in series between a filter of the first type and a filter of the second type. A communication device and method are also disclosed.

Transceiver arrangement, communication device, and method

A transformer filter arrangement including a transformer having a first winding and a second winding is provided. Both of the first and the second windings are located between an outer border and an inner border, which is inside the outer border. The transformer filter arrangement further includes at least one reactive sub circuit, each including at least one inductor. The first winding of the transformer is divided into a plurality of winding segments. At least a first one of the at least one reactive sub circuit being connected in series with the winding segments of the first winding between two such winding segments, and having at least one of the at least one inductor located inside said inner border.

Transformer filter arrangement

A duplexer-less transceiver arrangement is disclosed. The transceiver comprises a receiver configured for frequency-division duplex communication with a communication network; a transmitter configured for frequency-division duplex communication with the communication network; an antenna port for connecting to an antenna; a balancing impedance circuit arranged to provide an adaptive impedance arranged to mimic the impedance at the antenna port; and an impedance network differentially connecting the receiver, transmitter, antenna port and balancing impedance circuit, wherein the impedance network includes a cross-connection.

Duplexer-less transceiver and communication apparatus

A transceiver front-end is connectable to a signal transmission and reception arrangement adapted to transmit and receive with respective frequencies. The transceiver front-end comprises at least one of a transmit frequency blocking arrangement and a receive frequency blocking arrangement. For instance, the transmit frequency blocking arrangement has a blocking and non-blocking frequency interval associated with the transmit frequency and receive frequency, respectively, and is adapted to block passage of transmit frequency signals between the signal transmission and reception arrangement and the receiver. At least one of the transmit frequency blocking arrangement and the receive frequency blocking arrangement comprises a network of passive components comprising at least one transformer and a frequency translated impedance adapted to have a higher impedance value in the blocking frequency interval than in the non-blocking frequency interval.

Transceiver front-end for blocking transmit or receive frequency signals

A duplexer-less transceiver arrangement () is disclosed. The transceiver comprises a receiver () arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with a communication network; a transmitter () arranged for frequency-division duplex communication with the communication network; an antenna port () for connecting to an antenna; a balancing impedance circuit () arranged to provide an adaptive impedance arranged to mimic the impedance at the antenna port; and an impedance network differentially connecting the receiver (), transmitter (), antenna port () and balancing impedance circuit (), wherein the impedance network includes a cross-connection.

A transformer filter arrangement () for passing signals at a fundamental frequency and suppressing signals at one or more interfering frequencies is disclosed. It comprises a transformer () having a first winding () and a second winding (), wherein the first winding () has a first end () and a second end () and the second winding () has a first end () and a second end (). It further comprises one or more capacitors (-). For each capacitor (-) of a first set of at least one capacitor of the one or more capacitors (-), the capacitor (-) is connected between a pair of taps (a1, a2; b1, b2; c1, c2) of the first winding (), wherein each tap (a1, a2, b1, b2, c1, c2) of the pair of taps (a1, a2; b1, b2; c1, c2) is located between the first end () and the second end () of the first winding (), and the capacitor (-), together with an inductive sub segment (-) of the first winding (), which is connected in parallel with the capacitor (-) between the pair of taps (a1, a2; b1, b2; c1, c2), forms a parallel LC circuit which is tuned to resonate at one of said interfering frequencies for suppressing signals at said one of the interfering frequencies. A corresponding integrated circuit, a corresponding radio receiver circuit, a corresponding radio transmitter circuit, and a corresponding radio communication apparatus are also disclosed.

A down-conversion circuit for a receiver circuit is disclosed. It comprises a first mixer arranged to down-convert an RF signal with a first LO signal (LO), thereby generating a first down-converted signal. It further comprises a second mixer arranged to down-convert the RF signal with a second LO signal (LO) having the same LO frequency as the first LO signal (LO), but a different and a second duty cycle, thereby generating a second down-converted signal. The second mixer has an enabled and a disabled mode. The down-conversion circuit also comprises a third mixer arranged to down-convert the RF signal with the second LO signal (LO), thereby generating a third down-converted signal. A passive output combiner network is used to combine the first and the second down-converted signals such that harmonically down-converted signal content present in the first down-converted signal and harmonically down-converted signal content present in the second down-converted signal cancel in a combined output signal of the down-conversion circuit. The down-conversion circuit further comprises a detection unit adapted to detect interference based on the first and third down-converted signals and to selectively set the second passive switching mixer in the enabled mode, for counteracting the interference, or in the disabled mode, for saving power compared with the enabled mode, based on the detection. A corresponding receiver circuit, a corresponding communication device, and a corresponding method are also disclosed.
