The invention discloses a method () for a cellular system (), in which traffic can be exchanged between first () and second () transceivers. The traffic is sent in data units, each of which is given an identifier, and which data units may be divided into segments. A receiving transceiver () may send status information in data frames or data units () about properly received, partially received, or non-received data units to a sending transceiver, i.e. the transceiver from which the data was sent. In the case () of partially or non-received data units, the status information includes () information about whether the data unit or units were non-received or partially received, and in the case of one or more partially received data units, which () parts of those data units that were not received.

A method and apparatus according to the present invention addresses and/or prevents lost protocol synchronization in HARQ systems caused by ACK/NACK errors. One embodiment detects lost synchronization errors for NDI-based retransmission protocols and restores synchronization by sending an explicit RESET message. In response to the RESET message, the transmitter aborts the transmission of a current PDU and transmits a new PDU and corresponding NDI. Another embodiment prevents protocol synchronization errors by sending scheduling grants on a packet by packet basis. The receiver sends a subsequent explicit scheduling grant to the transmitter based on an error evaluation of a received PDU. The transmitter will not send the next PDU unless it receives the subsequent explicit scheduling grant.

Method and arrangement for retransmission using HARQ

A method is provided in a receiving node for handling status information of data units transmitted from a sending node to the receiving node over a radio link. The receiving node establishes that a number of data units that has been transmitted by the sending node are missing. The receiving node sends a reduced status message to the sending node over the radio link, which message is reduced such that it comprises the negative acknowledgement for a first part of missing data units and omits negative acknowledgements for the rest of the missing data units. The omitted negative acknowledgement for the rest of the missing data units will not erroneously be interpreted as correctly received data units by the sending node.

A method and apparatus for signaling scheduling information in a spatial multiplexing wireless communications system, as well as corresponding methods and apparatus for processing such signaling information, are disclosed. Signaling scheduling information includes scheduling first and second transport blocks for simultaneous transmission during a first transmission interval on first and second data substreams, respectively, and assigning a single re-transmission process identifier for the first transmission interval and transmitting first scheduling information for the first transmission interval. The first scheduling information includes the re-transmission process identifier and first disambiguation data. Additionally, at least one of the first and second transport blocks is scheduled for re-transmission during a second transmission interval. According to a first embodiment of inventive concepts, method of operating an intelligent transportation system may include obtaining first traffic information from a first source, with the first traffic information including position information for a first vehicle, and with the first traffic information being generated independently of the first vehicle. Second traffic information may be obtained from a second source, with the second traffic information omitting position information for the first vehicle. Responsive to comparing the first traffic information and the second traffic information, the first vehicle may be identified as being non-collaborative with respect to the intelligent transportation system.
