One example discloses an inductive power supply device, comprises: an inductive coupler including a resonant circuit having a first resonant state in response to an object at a first distance from the inductive power supply, and a second resonant state in response to the object at a second distance from the inductive power supply; a driver circuit coupled to send a first power-level to the inductive coupler when in a charge-object state and to send a second power-level to the inductive coupler when in a detect-object state, wherein the second power-level is less than the first power-level; and an object detector coupled to detect the first and second resonant states and place the driver circuit in the charge-object state in response to the first resonant state, and place the driver circuit in the detect-object state in response to the second resonant state.

Inductive power supply

A method of operating a switched-mode power supply (SMPS) for supplying power to a load circuit, which draws a supply current that varies with an input signal to the load circuit is disclosed. The method comprises monitoring the input signal and controlling the amount of accumulated energy transferred for consumption by the load circuit, in use, in accordance with the input signal.

Switched-mode power supply and method of operation

A method of controlling a loudspeaker of an electronic device provides voice coil temperature protection. When a power supply for the electronic device is first activated, a binding step is performed in which the loudspeaker impedance is determined and a temperature (such as ambient temperature) is accurately measured. These binding step measurements are used during subsequent use of the loudspeaker, to make the temperature measurements (based on voice coil impedance) as accurate as possible.
