Method and entity for transmitting in a communications system

The disclosure relates to a method performed in an entity for transmitting in a communications system. The method comprises assessing a channel to be available for transmission by establishing an on-going transmission to have a received signal strength such as to allow simultaneous transmission in view of a first clear channel assessment threshold; establishing type of transmission of the on-going transmission; and determining, based on the established type of transmission, whether to transmit or to defer transmitting. A corresponding entity, computer programs and computer program products are also provided.

A method performed by an intermediate unit of a distributed base station system of a wireless communication network. The distributed base station system has a first base unit and a second base unit connected to the intermediate unit. The intermediate unit is further connected to a first remote unit, which is further connected for distributing wireless signals to pieces of User Equipment (UEs). The intermediate unit receives, from the first base unit, first data and sends the first data over a point-to-point connection to the first remote unit for further distribution wirelessly over a radio channel to the UEs. In response to the reception of the first data, a first indication is sent to the second base unit that the radio channel is free. The second base unit can send second data that is then to be sent from the remote unit towards the UEs on the radio channel.

Methods and nodes of a distributed base station system for improved downlink transmission

An Access Point (AP) and a wireless device, as well as complementary methods performed by the AP and the wireless device for communication with each other, are provided. Embodiments of the AP-performed method can include determining one or more Clear Channel Assessment Thresholds (CCATs) for data to be transmitted to the wireless device, wherein each CCAT is associated with a particular Quality of Service (QoS) category of the data. Such embodiments can also include determining whether the channel is busy or free based on the determined one or more CCATs and based on signals or energy detected on the channel and, based on determining that the channel is free, transmitting the data to the wireless device. In some embodiments, the data can be transmitted to the wireless device while further data is being transmitted on the channel.

The first wireless AP node is arranged to have a first Radio Frequency (RF) coverage areathat is at least partly overlapping with a second RF coverage areaof a second wireless AP node. The first and second wireless AP nodes are arranged to operate on the same RF channel. The method comprises configuring a first priority level of the first wireless AP node in relation to a second priority level of the second wireless AP node, which first and second priority levels are priority levels for accessing the RF channel. The method further comprises transmitting, to a wireless deviceassociated with the first wireless AP node, data via the RF channel in dependence of the first priority level. Thereby, the radio resource usage is controlled. According to some embodiments, the priority level is set based on negotiations between the first and second wireless AP nodes. According to other embodiments, the priority level is set based on communication between the first wireless AP node and a management node

Station and methods therein for handling transmissions in a wireless communications network

A first node and a method therein for controlling transmission of a first signal. The first node is operating in a Basic Service Set (BSS) comprised in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The first node detects a second signal transmitted from a second node operating in the WLAN. Further, the first node compares a signal strength of the second signal with a threshold value for the second node, which threshold value is determined based on the node type of the second node. Furthermore the first node transmits the first signal when the signal strength of the second signal is below the threshold value, and defers from transmitting the first signal when the signal strength of the second signal is above the threshold value. Thereby the transmission of the first signal is controlled.

First node and a method therein

A first Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) node and a method therein for performing a transmission to a second WLAN node in a WLAN. The first WLAN node identifies a third WLAN node transmitting a first signal (S) overheard by the first WLAN node, and determines to transmit, to the second WLAN node, a second signal (S) based on the identity of the third WLAN node and on a received power of the first signal. There is provided access to a communications channel in a wireless communications network. Stations (STAs) associated with an access point (AP) are grouped in at least two groups of STAs, each group being associated with a minimum transmission power level needed by the AP to communicate with the STAs in that group. A first time interval is allocated for a first group of STAs associated with highest minimum transmission power to access the communications channel concurrently with a third time interval being allocated by another AP for a third group of STAs associated with lowest minimum transmission power level needed by said another AP to communicate with the third group of STAs to access the communications channel. A second time interval, non-overlapping with the first time interval, is allocated for a second group of STAs associated with lowest minimum transmission power to access the communications channel concurrently with a fourth time interval being allocated by said another AP for a fourth group of STAs associated with highest minimum transmission power level needed by said another AP to communicate with the fourth group of STAs to access the communications channel.

Access to a communications channel in a wireless communications network

A method performed by a transmitting node for handling a channel access for transmitting data to a receiving node is provided. The transmitting node and the receiving node operate in a wireless communications network. The transmitting node obtains a defer list. The defer list comprises nodes causing Signal to Interference Ratio, SIR, below a threshold at the receiver node. The defer list is based on a first defer list received from and created by the receiving node. The transmitting node senses a wireless channel in the wireless communications network. When the transmitting node intends to transmit data to the receiving node, the transmitting node defers channel access to the sensed wireless channel for the data transmission when one or more conditions are fulfilled. The one or more conditions comprise at least that one or more nodes are sensed as communicating and are on the defer list.

Receiving node, transmitting node, and methods therein for handling channel access

A first node and a method performed by the first node for determining a Clear Channel Assessment Threshold, CCAT, with regards to a second node operable in the WLAN are provided. The method performed by the first node comprises performing a transmission to the second node using a Modulation and Coding Scheme, MCS, and determining the CCAT based on the MCS used for the transmission.
