Embodiments herein relate to for example a method performed by a radio network node for handling a communication of a user equipment, UE, in a wireless communication network. The radio network node transmits a handover command for handing over the UE, from a source cell to a target cell, wherein a security parameter for encrypting data communicated between the radio network node and the UE is retained during the handover. Furthermore, the radio network node maintains a sequence number status for reception and/or transmission of a signalling radio bearer of the UE during the handover from the source cell to the target cell, and/or at a fallback from the target cell to the source cell, when the UE triggers the fallback to the source cell.

Radio network node, user equipment (UE) and methods performed therein

Systems and methods related to balancing random access resources between 2-step Random Access Channel (RACH) and 4-step RACH. In one embodiment, a method performed by a first network node comprises obtaining information related to 2-step RACH and/or 4-step RACH, for cell(s) and/or beam(s) controlled by the first network node. The method further comprises determining, based on the obtained information, first assistance information for 2-step and/or 4-step RACH configuration, for the cell(s) and/or the beam(s) controlled by the first network node. The method further comprises transmitting, to a second network node, second assistance information for the 2-step and/or 4-step RACH configuration, for the cell(s) and/or the beam(s) controlled by the first network node. The second assistance information comprises the first assistance information or information that indicates one or more parts of the first assistance information.

Balancing RA resources between 2-step RACH and 4-step RACH

Techniques are provided to enable use of more than two preamble group Bs during random access (RA) for connected UEs. This flexibility is achieved by configuring the active BWP to overlap with the 2-step RA resources on the initial BWP, configuring different sizes of preamble group B in the initial BWP and the active BWP, a allowing connected UEs in the active BWP to use the MsgA PRACH and MsgA PUSCH resources in the initial BWP without switching active BWP.

Random access resource configuration in different bandwidth parts for two-step random access

A method for accessing a cellular communications network in unlicensed spectrum is provided. More specifically, the method is related to performing a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure prior to transmitting a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) preamble for accessing a New Radio-Unlicensed (NR-U) network. A User Equipment (UE) first performs the LBT procedure. If the LBT procedure is successful, the UE then generates a punctured PRACH preamble and transmits the punctured PRACH preamble. By puncturing the PRACH preamble, it is possible to create a gap(s) for performing the LBT procedure in a way that is backward compatible with existing NR-U specification and does not reduce a number of random access occasions in a slot or a mini-slot. As a result, it is possible to transmit PRACH preambles in consecutive random access occasions, thus helping to increase spectrum utilization and reduce latency in the cellular communications network.

Method for accessing a cellular communications network in unlicensed spectrum

A method is provided for use in a network node in wireless communications network. The method includes determining, a plurality of transmission opportunities, TXOPs, in which to attempt to transmit a paging signal in a plurality of beams. The plurality of beams have a beam order. The method further includes assigning a predetermined number of the plurality of TXOPs to each beam of the plurality of beams, wherein none of the TXOPs is assigned to more than one beam. The method further includes performing at least one clear channel assessment, CCA, before transmitting the paging signal in one of the TXOPs. The method further includes transmitting the paging signal in a first beam of the plurality of beams using one of the plurality of TXOPs assigned to the first beam based on a first successful CCA covering the used TXOP.

Handling multiple transmission opportunities in a paging occasion

The disclosure relates to a method in a wireless device for transmitting an uplink signalling message in a wireless communication network. The wireless device is connected to a first network element over at least a first and a second wireless link. The method comprises determining a transmission mode among alternative transmission modes for transmitting the uplink signalling message. The alternative transmission modes comprise: transmitting on the first wireless link; transmitting on the second wireless link; and transmitting on both the first and the second wireless links. The method also comprises transmitting the uplink signalling message according to the determined transmission mode. The disclosure also relates to a corresponding method performed in the network element, and to the corresponding apparatus.

Uplink signaling for dual connectivity

Embodiments herein relate, e.g., to a method performed by a wireless device for handling communication in a wireless communication network. The wireless device transmits to a radio network node, a first preamble associated with a selected downlink beam. The wireless device further monitors for a random access response, RAR, in a first RAR reception window and when the RAR is not received in the first RAR reception window, monitors for the RAR in a second RAR reception window of a different beam or to transmit, to the radio network node, a second preamble associated with a second beam wherein the first preamble is associated with a channel state information reference signal and the second preamble is associated with a synchronization signal block.

Radio network node, wireless device, and methods for performing random access in a wireless communication network

A method performed by a node, for handling beamforming beams. The node operates in a wireless communications network. The node establishes that at least two beams in a first set of beams transmitted by one or more first radio network nodes are overlapping. The establishing is based on information comprising at least one of: i) a first indication of a first result of one or more measurements performed by one or more wireless devices on the first set of beams, and ii) a report having a second result of a determination that the at least two beams in the first set of beams are overlapping. The node also provides a second indication to at least one of: the node, the one or more second radio network nodes, and the one or more wireless devices. The second indication is based on the established overlap.

First node, wireless device and methods performed thereby, for handling beamforming beams

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

According to some embodiments, methods are provided to operate a base station of a wireless communication network. For example, parameters may be generated that define a plurality of potential PDCCH monitoring occasions and that define a plurality of paging occasions, wherein each one of the plurality of paging occasions includes a respective subset of the plurality of potential PDCCH monitoring occasions, wherein consecutive paging occasions are spaced apart in time with at least one of the potential PDCCH monitoring occasions therebetween not being included in any of the plurality of paging occasions. The parameters are transmitted over a radio interface to a wireless device. Related methods of operating wireless devices, related base stations, and related wireless devices are also discussed.

Provision of distributed paging occasions

The present disclosure relates to telecommunications. In one of its aspects, the disclosure concerns a method performed by a User Equipment for handling Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Service Data Units (SDUs) when performing a Dual Active Protocol Stack (DAPS) handover of at least one radio bearer from a source access node to a target access node in a wireless communications network. The method comprises obtaining a trigger to perform the handover and establishing a radio connection for the at least one radio bearer with the target access node. An uplink transmission of PDCP SDUs is switched from the source to the target access node over the established radio connection. A radio connection with the source access node is released and a PDCP status report is transmitted to the target access node for each configured radio bearer. The respective PDCP status report indicates PDCP Sequence Numbers (SNs) of missing PDCP SDUs.

Methods performed by wireless devices and network nodes for conditional mobility procedures are disclosed. A method performed by a wireless device comprises receiving a conditional mobility configuration from a source network node containing at least a triggering condition for conditional mobility based on beam measurement information; and performing beam measurements for at least one beam of at least one cell, to obtain beam measurement information for the at least one beam. A method performed by a network node comprises defining a conditional mobility configuration containing at least a triggering condition for conditional mobility based on beam measurement information; and initiating the transmission of the conditional mobility configuration to at least one user equipment. Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for PUSCH resource selection in 2-step random access (RA). In one embodiment, a wireless device is configured to receive a two-step RA configuration having: a first resource allocation for a PUSCH transmission of a first message, msgA, of the two-step RA procedure, the first resource allocation for the PUSCH transmission of the msgA being associated with a first set of preambles; and a second resource allocation for the PUSCH transmission of the msgA associated with a second set of preambles; select one of the first and second resource allocation and the associated one of the first and second set of preambles based on the two-step RA configuration and a payload size of the PUSCH transmission of the msgA; and transmit the PUSCH transmission of the msgA using the selected one of the first and second resource allocation.

A method, system, network node and wireless device for random access are provided. In one or more embodiments, a wireless device is configured to communicate with a network node. The wireless device includes processing circuitry configured to: trigger a random access (RA) process; select a first beam for the RA process, the selected first beam being associated with a two-step RA configuration, a characteristic of the selected first beam being determined to meet a predefined threshold; and perform the RA process associated with the two-step RA configuration using the selected first beam.
