A shaving apparatus, shaving head and/or at least one cutting unit for shaving both short and long hairs. The shaving apparatus, shaving head and/or at least one cutting unit includes an external cutting member and an internal cutting member movably arranged with respect to the external cutting member. A driver may be provided for moving the internal cutting member. The external cutting member is provided with a shaving section having two mutually connected lateral borders forming hair entry apertures. The internal cutting member is provided with cutting elements having cutting edges for cooperation with cutting edges of the external cutting member. A number of the hair entry apertures are formed by two substantially flat lamellae of the external cutting member which have free ends positioned between the borders of the shaving section.

A hair cutting appliance is configured to be moved through hair in a moving direction in order to cut hair. The hair cutting appliance includes a housing portion, a blade set having a skin-facing top surface, and a releasable attachment comb. The blade set is arranged pivotably with respect to the housing portion. The attachment comb includes a supporting frame, at least one spacing guard element configured to space the blade set from a working surface when in operation, a mounting portion configured to be attached to a housing portion of the hair cutting appliance, and an orientation determining portion configured to engage the blade set and to define a locking orientation of the blade set when mounted to the hair cutting appliance.

A personal care device is provided with a cutting unit comprising an external cutting member and an internal cutting member. A virtual skin plane is located on a side of the external cutting member facing away from the internal cutting member. The internal cutting member comprises cutting elements each having a first cutting edge. The external cutting member comprises hair-entry apertures each having a second cutting edge. In a starting position of cutting a hair situated in a cutting position in the hair-entry aperture and extending perpendicularly to the virtual skin plane, the first cutting edge is in contact with the hair in a first contact position, and the second cutting edge is in contact with the hair in a second contact position, wherein the first contact position is closer to the virtual skin plane than the second contact position.

A shaving unit includes a cap having an annular shaving track defining an axis. The shaving track is provided with hair entry apertures which have a V-shaped forward edge with a point directed in a cutting direction. Further, a rotary cutter has a plurality of cutter blades, where the rotary cutter is configured to rotate about the axis such that the cutter blades follow the shaving track in the cutting direction to cut hairs protruding through the hair entry apertures. The cutter blades have a V-shaped cutting edge, where a point of the V-shaped cutting edge is directed opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotary cutter.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a cutting member (,). According to the method, a single side,of a carrier,of the cutting member is provided with an auxiliary layer (,). The carrier is provided with a cutting edge (,) by means of an electrochemical machining device (,), an electrode (,) of the electrochemical machining device being arranged on a side (,) of the carrier remote from the auxiliary layer. According to the invention, the auxiliary layer is provided as far as the cutting edge to be provided on the carrier, and, after the cutting edge has been provided on the carrier, the auxiliary layer is maintained on the carrier as a layer which is functional for the cutting member. In this manner, the auxiliary layer has a double function and is thus utilized in a better way. In a preferred embodiment, the auxiliary layer mainly comprises SiO,and has a thickness below 200 nm, preferably below 100 nm. In this embodiment, an edge (,) of the auxiliary layer, which is present at the location of the cutting edge of the carrier, constitutes an auxiliary cutting edge or even a main cutting edge of the cutting member, so that the cutting member has improved cutting properties and an improved service life. The cutting member is used in a shaving head (,) according to the invention and in a shaving device (,) according to the invention, which shaving device comprises a shaving head.
