A method of over-the-air beamforming calibration is disclosed for a multi-antenna transceiver having a first plurality of antenna elements connected to respective transceiver chains. Beamforming calibration comprises determining respective beamforming calibration factors for the transceiver chains of the antenna elements of the first plurality. The method comprises determining a second plurality of measurement resources for calibration sounding, wherein the second plurality is smaller than the first plurality. The method also comprises (for each measurement resource of the second plurality) selecting one or more antenna elements of the first plurality for sounding signal transmission, wherein each antenna element of the first plurality is selected for one or more of the measurement resources of the second plurality. The method also comprises (using each measurement resource of the second plurality) overlappingly transmitting respective sounding signals by the selected one or more antenna elements. Corresponding apparatus, multi-antenna transceiver, wireless communication device and computer program product are also disclosed.

Over-the-air beamforming calibration

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

A heat transfer plate has a front gasket groove including an annular front groove part extending around a heat transfer area, upper and lower distribution areas, and first and third portholes, and second and fourth ring groove parts enclosing second and fourth portholes. An upper front groove portion of the front gasket groove extends between the second porthole and the upper distribution area. A heat transfer plate comprises an upper end portion adjoining a center portion along an upper border line and comprising first and second port holes and an upper distribution pattern comprising upper distribution ridges and valleys. The upper distribution ridges extend along imaginary upper ridge lines from the upper border line towards the first port hole. The upper distribution valleys extend along imaginary upper valley lines from the upper border line towards the second port hole. The imaginary upper ridge lines and valley lines cross in plural upper cross points. In plural upper cross points, the plate extends in an imaginary first intermediate plane. The plate is configured so that a number of first upper cross points on one side of the center axis extends above the first intermediate plane, and a number of second upper cross points on another side of such axis extends below the first intermediate plane.

There is provided determination of a beam configuration between a first radio transceiver device and a second radio transceiver device. The first radio transceiver device performs beam searching by transmitting a first sounding signal in all transmit beam configurations in a set of transmit beam configurations; and receiving, from the second radio transceiver device, a second sounding signal in all receive beam configurations in a set of receive beam configurations. The first radio transceiver device determines a beam configuration based on the receive beam configuration in the set of receive beam configurations in which the second sounding signal having best predetermined metric was received.

A beamforming method is disclosed of a multi-antenna transmitter configured for operation in a listen-before-talk (LBT) environment. The method comprises transmitting&#x2014;in transmission resources of a collection of one or more transmission resources corresponding to an LBT sensing event&#x2014;according to a primary emission pattern (e.g., a primary beam) having a main lobe in a primary angular direction associated with a channel path towards an intended receiver, and transmitting according to one or more secondary emission patterns. The one or more secondary emission patterns&#x2014;when accumulated over the collection of transmission resources corresponding to the LBT sensing event&#x2014;are configured to indicate channel occupancy in angular directions other than the primary angular direction. In some embodiments, the one or more secondary emission patterns comprises a plurality of secondary emission patterns (e.g., a plurality of secondary beams). Transmitting according to the one or more secondary emission patterns may comprise executing a sweep of the respective secondary beams over the collection of transmission resources corresponding to the LBT sensing event. In some embodiments, the one or more secondary emission patterns consists of a single secondary emission pattern (e.g., an omni-directional emission pattern). Corresponding apparatus, transmitter, network node, wireless communication device, and computer program product are also disclosed.

Beamforming in listen-before-talk environments

Methods and apparatuses exemplified in this disclosure provide mechanisms for a wireless communication device to indicate its Radio Access Technology (RAT) preferences to a wireless communication network, and for a wireless communication network to consider the RAT preferences of a given device when deciding which RAT the device will use. As a non-limiting example of the advantages flowing from these mechanisms, devices operating within a network that includes or is associated with multiple RATs can indicate their preferences for which RAT they use, while still allowing the network to retain control of the RAT selection decisions. Such flexibility offers significant advantages in 5G networks that provide tight integration between multiple RATS&#x2014;e.g., between LTE and NR air interfaces. However, the methods and apparatuses disclosed herein are not limited to 5G networks.

Method and apparatus for indicating and using radio access technology preferences in a wireless communication network

A method and device for transmitting information in a telecommunication system are described. A device (UE) selects which one of two or more radio access technologies (RATs) or, which one of two or more frequency bands, to use for transmission of a data signal.
