A method comprises receiving an indication of a bending force in excess of a first predetermined threshold being applied to a communications device, and responding to receipt of the indication of the bending force in excess of the first predetermined threshold by causing a message to be transmitted from the communications device to a remote receiver, or responding to subsequent receipt of an indication that the bending force has subsequently fallen below a second predetermined threshold by causing a message to be transmitted from the communication device to a remote receiver.

An apparatus including: a body configured for resilient contortion from a neutral equilibrium shape by a user, the body having an exterior surface that resiliently contorts in response to user provision of a force, wherein the body defines, proximal to a perimeter of a face of the body, at least a first portion of an exterior surface of the apparatus and a second portion of an exterior surface of the apparatus that opposes the first portion across the face, wherein user provision of a force in a first direction results in a first contortion of the exterior surface and user provision of a force in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, results in a second contortion of the exterior surface; and electronic circuitry configured to provide consistent meaning across a plurality of different software applications for user provision of a force to the exterior surface.

Contortion of an electronic apparatus

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided in order to provide navigational instructions in a manner that does not require the user to view the navigational instructions. In the context of a method, user input is received that is representative of an estimation by the user of a navigational instruction. The method also determines whether the estimation by the user matches the navigational instruction. Further, the method causes feedback to be generated at least in an instance in which the estimation by the user fails to match the navigational instruction. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for receiving user estimation of navigational instructions

An apparatus including polymer configured to have a first state or a second state, wherein the volume of the polymer in the first state is different to a volume of the polymer in the second state; an actuator configured to be controlled by an input signal to cause the polymer to change between the first state and the second state; and a constraint configured to constrain the polymer in at least a first direction when the polymer changes between the first state and the second state.
