A non-leaching adhesive system and its use in a liquid immersion objective for immersion-writing of masters for optical discs are disclosed. The adhesive system comprises at least one monomer, selected from among the group of acrylate and methacrylate monomers, allylic monomers, norbornene monomers, hybrid monomers thereof, containing chemically different polymerizable groups, and multifunctional thiol monomers, provided that said thiol is used in combination with at least one of said non-thiol monomers; and a polymerization initiator. At least one of said monomers, not being a thiol, is provided with at least two functional polymerizable groups to obtain a crosslinked polymer network. The polymerization initiator is preferably an initiator that can be activated both thermally and with UV radiation. The adhesive system may further contain a reactive diluent. Further the use of the present adhesive system in mounting a liquid immersion objective is disclosed.

In a method of manufacturing a replica, a bondable resin composition is provided between a mold and a substrate or a blank, the resin is cured and the replica thus manufactured is removed from the mold. The replica includes the substrate and the reproduction of the mold on the substrate. The curing includes a UV light-initiated cationic polymerization.

The invention provides a method of filling a PDLC cell, a polymerizable mixture suitable for this purpose as well as a display device provided with such a PDLC cell. The mixture in accordance with the invention comprises two types of non-volatile reactive monomers, the first type of monomer being readily miscible with liquid crystalline material and the second type of monomer being poorly miscible with the liquid crystalline material. Such mixtures prove to be very stable. In addition, when such mixtures are used in cells, problems regarding compositional drift do not occur. Cells in which the inventive mixture is used demonstrate a relatively low hysteresis as well as a relatively low switching voltage. By virtue thereof, it is very attractive to use these cells in a display device.
