Device and method for directing audio input and output between a plurality of electronic devices. Event records are stored in memory and each event record records a specific combination of states relating to a first device or a second device and are associated with an action. Each action specifies a direction of audio input and output. States of the first and second devices are monitored. Changes to states are detected. Based on specific combination of states, one of the event records associated with the specific combination of states is identified. The action associated with the identified event record is performed and audio input and output between the electronic devices is directed in accordance with the associated action.

Directing audio output based on gestures

A network server creates a database storing a list of end-user devices associated with a user, object types that can be handled by the respective end-user devices, and actions that can be performed by the respective end-user devices for handling objects of the respective object types. One of the end-user devices detects that it is unable to handle an object and makes a request to the network server that a different, unspecified device handle the object instead. The network server, having received the request that an unspecified device handle the object, selects a device associated with the user to handle the object based on the database, and invokes that device.

End-under devices handling objects via network server assistance

Methods of tethering first and second devices to enable the second device to tether to and gain access to a packet data network through the first device. The first device is configured to connect to the packet data network through a first interface. The first and second devices are configured to exchange tethering information, such as through Near Field Communication. With the first device connected to the packet data network using a first interface, the devices are tethered together using a second interface. The second device is then able to access the packet data network through the tethering connection with the first device.

Automatic internet sharing

A first device determines whether there is an incoming call to the first device or an outbound call from the first device; performs at least two different acts, among a set of acts for monitoring a set of devices that include the first device and a second device; redirecting audio input and output at a first one of input/output (I/O) devices to a second one of the I/O devices based on the monitoring. The I/O devices include the plurality of devices.

Directing audio output based on device sensor input

Methods and electronic devices configured to grant access to a file, and of enabling passcode protection for a file. The methods may include displaying file icons corresponding to the files. Upon receiving a selection of one of the displayed files, a request for the passcode is presented to the user if the selected application is protected. If the application is not protected, the file is accessed without receiving the passcode. The file icons may be displayed in a manner indicating that certain ones of the files require a passcode for access.

Methods and devices for granting access to and enabling passcode protection for a file

There is disclosed means for uploading/downloading images to/from a remote server and for viewing the same. The uploading/downloading of the images to/from the remote server is parallel instead of serial. This means that the images, instead of being transferred as a sequential stream of bytes, instead are arranged in scans of image data in such a way that the uploaded/downloaded images can be browsed early albeit at a lower quality than if the entire image data is considered. As in the serial case, it is possible to interrupt the uploading/downloading process at any time, and still browse the received image data. Likewise it is possible to re-start the uploading/downloading process in the future.

Progressive multimedia synchronization

A server provides an information record comprising selected information related to an image depicted in a digital photograph. The server may comprise a database and a recognition application. The database may store, in association with each of a plurality of subject matters: i) recognition data for recognizing the subject matter within an image; and ii) information related to the subject matter. The recognition application may receive a request from a remote client system. The request comprises a digital image embodying at least a portion of a digital photograph. The recognition application applies recognition data to the digital image to determine a selected subject matter. The selected subject matter is the subject matter depicted in the digital image. The recognition application further obtains selected information from the database. The selected information may be the information related to the selected subject matter. A response is then returned to the remote client system. The response comprises the information record comprising the selected information.

Digital photograph content information service

A mobile device comprises a network communication system such as a wide area network mobile telephony system, a camera for capturing a digital photograph, and a photograph management application. The photograph management application receives the digital photograph, obtains an information record comprising information related to the digital photograph; and associates at least a portion of the information related to the digital photograph with the digital photograph. The information record may be obtained from local sources such as a contact directory or from a remote directory server.

Mobile device with integrated photograph management system

A mobile device for rendering or transforming three-dimensional images is disclosed. The mobile device determines a distance and/or location of a user relative to the device and adjusts the three-dimensional image to provide improved viewing of the three-dimensional image at the sensed distance and/or location.

Proximity assisted 3D rendering

Methods for adjusting a picture of an object captured by a camera in a mobile radio communication terminal include defining a first camera angle relative to the object and capturing an image of the object by means of the camera from a second camera angle relative to the object. The second camera angle is offset from the first camera angle. The methods further include storing image data relating to the captured image, and generating an angularly adjusted image of the object in response to the image data and an angular relation between the first camera angle and the second camera angle. Corresponding mobile radio communication terminals are also disclosed. The terminals include an image processing system configured to process an image of an object captured by a camera from a second camera angle by generating an angularly adjusted image of the object in response to image data for the image, and in response to an angular relation between the second camera angle and a first camera angle.

Face image correction using multiple camera angles

A sequence of images is captured by an imaging device and stored in a digital format. After having captured and stored at least one image, a user is guided to move the device so that an image that can be stitched to the stored image can be captured. Positional information indicating the current orientation of the device is provided; positional information indicating the orientation of the device at the time of capturing each captured image is stored; and the current positional information and the positional information stored for the stored image is utilized for guiding the user to move the device to an orientation where an image that can be stitched to the stored image can be captured.

Methods for capturing a sequence of images and related devices

A method for searching for data files stored in a mobile device is provided. The method includes accessing a memory including a plurality of data files, wherein each of the data files includes a file information field containing a character string. The method also includes retrieving, directly from the data files, at least a first part of the file information field associated with the data files. The method also includes presenting the at least first part of the file information field via a display. The method also includes determining a first diverging character position among the character strings in the presented at least first part of the file information field associated with each of the data files. The method also includes receiving, via an input device, an input corresponding to at least one symbol. The method also includes comparing the at least one symbol to each of the characters in the first diverging character position. The method also includes presenting, based on a result of the comparing, at least a second part of the file information field associated with select ones of the data files which include a character, in the first diverging character position of the at least first part of the file information field, that matches the at least one symbol.
