The present disclosure relates to transmitting synchronization signals and in particular to so called beam sweep. In particular the disclosure relates to methods for providing synchronization using synchronization sequences that are transmitted at different points in time. The disclosure also relates to corresponding devices and computer programs. A method in a network node, for transmitting synchronization sequences of a synchronization signal to one or more receiving wireless devices, comprises determining multiple synchronization sequences, such that each synchronization sequence comprises a respective timing indication, whereby each synchronization sequence enables determination of a time of an event in a receiving wireless device and transmitting the synchronization sequences to the one or more wireless devices, at different points in time.

Network architecture, methods, and devices for a wireless communications network

A method for accessing a cellular communications network in unlicensed spectrum is provided. More specifically, the method is related to performing a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure prior to transmitting a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) preamble for accessing a New Radio-Unlicensed (NR-U) network. A User Equipment (UE) first performs the LBT procedure. If the LBT procedure is successful, the UE then generates a punctured PRACH preamble and transmits the punctured PRACH preamble. By puncturing the PRACH preamble, it is possible to create a gap(s) for performing the LBT procedure in a way that is backward compatible with existing NR-U specification and does not reduce a number of random access occasions in a slot or a mini-slot. As a result, it is possible to transmit PRACH preambles in consecutive random access occasions, thus helping to increase spectrum utilization and reduce latency in the cellular communications network.

Method for accessing a cellular communications network in unlicensed spectrum

The present disclosure provides a method in a User Equipment of transmitting a random access preamble and a physical uplink shared channel, comprising: determining a resource size to be used to contain the physical uplink shared channel, the resource size being one of a set of predetermined sizes; identifying a resource to be used from a predetermined set of resources, the resource in the set of resources corresponding to the determined resource size, each resource being identified with a respective first index n and occupying a distinct set of OFDM symbols and subcarriers; identifying a PRACH preamble with a second index n' corresponding to the first index n of the identified resource; and transmitting the identified PRACH preamble, and the physical uplink shared channel in the identified resource.

According to some embodiments, a method for use in a wireless communication network includes a wireless device receiving, from a network, a configuration corresponding to a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH). The wireless device receives, from the network via Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling, a bitmap that provides an indication of time locations corresponding to synchronization signal (SS) blocks. The wireless device determines, based on the configuration and the bitmap, a time slot that does not overlap with the time locations to perform a PRACH transmission during the determined time slot.

A method for performing a beamformed transmission and/or reception in a wireless communication using an antenna array comprising a first sub-array of first antenna elements each having a first polarization and a second sub-array of second antenna elements each having a second polarization that is orthogonal to the first polarization is provided. The method comprises obtaining a first weight vector for the first sub-array and a second weight vector for the second sub-array. The first weight vector and the second weight vector optimize a utility function. The utility function comprises a first term depending on a first function of the first weight vector and on a second function of the second weight vector. A method may be provided to operate a wireless terminal in communication with a network node. The method may include receiving a Physical Downlink Control Channel, PDCCH, order from the network node. The PDCCH order may include an identification for a Random Access CHannel RACH occasion to be used for a RACH message 1 preamble transmission. PRACH detection in a radio access network

A method is performed by a wireless device for accessing a network. The method comprises performing a two-step random access procedure. This comprises transmitting a preamble in at least one Physical Random Access Channel, PRACH, occasion, and transmitting a Physical Uplink Shared Channel, PUSCH. A position of the at least one PRACH occasion for transmitting the preamble is determined to ensure that a gap between transmitting the preamble and transmitting the PUSCH is less than a predetermined duration.
