A method for receiving an HTTP adaptive streaming video from a server, said method comprising at a client, operatively connected to said server upon receiving a chunk of said video, determining a current rate of transmission for transmissions from said server to said client; obtaining statistical information pertaining to an expected future rate of transmission, in function of at least said current rate of transmission; deriving a target rate of transmission from said statistical information; and requesting a subsequent chunk of said video in accordance with said target rate of transmission.

Method and client apparatus for receiving an http adaptive streaming video

A data cell generator multiplexes a plurality of data/speech packets (P , P , P ) into a single minicell (MC &prime;), for instance an Asynchronous Transfer Mode Adaptation Layer minicell, and adds overhead information (OH) to the minicell (MC &prime;) indicative for the lengths of the data/speech packets (P , P , P ) multiplexed therein. Several minicells (MC &prime;, MC &prime;, MC &prime;, MC &prime;) thereafter are multiplexed into a data cell (ATM_C), for instance an Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cell.

Method to generate data cells, data cell generating arrangement, and data cell receiving arrangement

For transmission of data frames (F , F ) between a first mobile network element (BTS , BTS , BTS ) and a second mobile network element (TRAU) in accordance with the ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) protocol, data frames (F , F ) of different channels are split up in subframes (SF , SF , SF ; SF , SF , SF ), ordered and then embedded in respective minicells. Minicells (MC , MC ) containing information of different channels are then combined into ATM cells (CELL) that are transferred between the first mobile network element (BTS , BTS , BTS ) and the second mobile network element (TRAU). In this way, transcoders in the second mobile network element (TRAU) can already start decoding data frames of several channels after receipt of the most urgent data which is contained in the first ATM cells (CELL).

Method and arrangement for transmission of data in a mobile network

A mobile telecommunication system with Base Transceiver Stations (BTS1-3) coupled to a mobile terminal (MT) via a radio link and exchanging mobile information (AAL-SDU: MUD, MSI) with a telecommunication controller (TC: BSC1-2; MSC). The mobile information contains a telecommunication signaling, such as a hand-over command (HOCOM), e.g. to be transported to the telecommunication controller. According to the ITU recommendation for the ATM Adaptation Layer AAL of the type 2 or 5, the AAL-PDU packets, which may for instance be transported by ATM cells, and wherein the mobile information is mapped, include a User-to-User indication field CPS-UUI or CPCS-UU, respectively, that transparently transports user data. This field is used to transport the telecommunication signaling in the up-link connection to a Base Station Controller (BSC1-2) or to a Mobile Services switching center (MSC), or, in the down-link connection, to base transceiver station (BTS1-3). The circuit (SARS1-2) which extracts this telecommunication signaling is relatively simple since the location of this signaling in the packet is well known because it corresponds to the location of the user-to-user indication field. There is thus no need, for the circuit (SARS1-2) receiving a packet, to search for the telecommunication signaling in the whole packet received.

In-band signaling for a hand-over operation in a mobile

The present invention discloses a cell switching network which includes a cell switch (AS) coupled to a first terminal (T1) and a function unit (FU). The cell switch is also coupled to a second and a third terminal (T2,T3) via a cell switching access network (AAN). The first terminal exchanges information with the second terminal via the function unit (FU) and a predetermined part of the information is indicative of the information exchange between the first and the second terminal. The function unit is adapted to process the information and modifies the above predetermined part of the information so that it becomes indicative of information exchange between the function unit and the third terminal. The information is thereupon exchanged between the first and the third terminal via the function unit.
