An agricultural baler for producing rectangular bales, having a reciprocating plunger moving back and forth in the enclosure formed by walls, thereby compressing crop material and forming rectangular bales, and further including at least one actuator for adapting the cross-section of the enclosure depending on the required pressure that needs to be exerted on the advancing bale. Actuators can apply their force on the sidewalls along transversal support beams or brackets forming the 'density belt'. The baling chamber is provided with one or more friction or moisture sensors which are placed at the location or in the immediate vicinity of one or more side wall reinforcements.

A bale wrapping mechanism has a roll holding station and a duckbill provided for clamping one end of the roll of wrapping material, said duckbill being pivotally mounted, via at least a first hinge, to the baling chamber sidewalls, for delivering said wrapping material to said baling chamber by insertion of said duckbill between adjacent rolls of said baling chamber, wherein the wrapping mechanism further has at least a first guiding roll for guiding the wrapping material between said roll holding station and said duckbill, wherein said first guiding roll axis substantially coincides with the first hinge axis.

Bale wrapping mechanism

A baler and a method of using the baler to produce high density bales based on arrangement and control of compression rollers. The baler comprises a pick-up assembly configured to pick-up crop material; a rotary feeder; a compression assembly comprising at least one compression roller configured to generate a pressure on the crop material as it passes between the compression roller and another compression component in the baler; and a bale chamber, wherein the pre-compressed crop forms a bale. The compression roller and compression component define an adjustable gap therebetween. The one or more compression rollers and/or baler compression components may be located in various locations in the baler. By adjusting the gap, pressure exerted on the crop material as it passes between the compression rollers and baler compression components may be controlled, resulting in bales of higher density.

Agricultural square baler and use thereof

A baler having a reciprocating plunger within a main bale chamber for compressing crop material into bales. The plunger has a first guide mechanism for permitting linear movement within the main bale chamber that allows a pivoting of an end face. A second guide mechanism includes a slot allowing the plunger to be oriented so that the second edge of the end face compresses crop material first and then subsequently pivots to compress equally and finally to have the second edge leading the first edge of the end face away from the bale to provide greater bale compression without additional force.

A harvester has an attachment, for rotatably supporting the support arm of the support wheel to the frame of the header, that includes a first bearing device with a substantially horizontal axis for rotatably supporting the support arm of the support wheel to the attachment, so that the support arm is tiltable between an operating position and a stowed position. The attachment further has a second bearing device with a substantially vertical axis, for rotatably supporting the attachment to the frame, so that the attachment is tiltable between a first position whereby the axis of the first bearing device substantially transverses the direction of travel and a second position whereby the axis of the first bearing device is substantially parallel to the direction of travel.

A square baler comprises a bale chute for lowering completed bales onto the ground, wherein the bale chute has a leading end connected to the rear end of the baler for pivoting movement between a raised transport position and a lowered operating position about an axis transverse to the direction of travel of the baler, and a suspension is provided. The suspension is connected to the baler by way of a lever mechanism that is movable between a first position in which the bale chute is supported in the operating position and a second position in which the bale chute is inclined sufficiently to the horizontal to cause a bale resting on any part of the bale chute to slide under the action of gravity along the bale chute and to fall onto the ground from the trailing end of the bale chute.

A square baler has a baling chamber and a bale chute arranged at the discharge end of the baling chamber. The bale chute comprises a rear portion that is pivotable about a horizontal axis to allow each bale to be lowered onto the ground without the bale toppling onto its end as it leaves the chute. The invention weighs each bale while the whole of its weight is supported by the rear portion of the bale chute.

A device is disclosed for introducing the free end of a wrapping material into the bale forming chamber of a round baler. The device comprises a pair of elongate platesandthat are biased towards one another to grip the wrapping material between them. One of the plateshas a leading edge that projects further than the other in the feeding direction of the wrapping material. In the invention, the leading edge is formed with forward projecting resiliently flexible fingerswhich are transversely spaced from one another.

Bale wrapping apparatus

A round baler comprises a mechanism for encircling a bale after it has been formed with a wrapping material drawn from a web on a supply roll. A guide mechanism is provided for adjusting the width of the web of wrapping material as it is offered to a formed bale, so as to selectively enable and disable the wrapping of the edges of the bale.

A double knotting method and apparatus capable of producing two successive knots in a pair of strands during one full operating cycle of a tying mechanism. The tying mechanism is comprised of a twine holder for maintaining a pair of strands in a suitable position, a cutter that co-operates with the twine holder for severing the strands during formation of successive knots, and a release mechanism for releasing the pair of strands from the twine holder before frill successive knot completion. The method and apparatus avoid twine tail formation.
