The present invention relates to a method for compressing genomic data, whereby the genomic data are stored in at least one data file containing at least a plurality of reads built by a genome sequencing method, whereby each read includes a mapping position, a CIGAR string and an actual sequenced nucleotide sequence as a local part of the donor genome, comprising the steps: —unwind a nucleotide sequence of a current read of one of said data files by using the mapping position and the CIGAR string of said current read, whereby said current read has at least one previous read, —compute a difference between the unwound nucleotide sequence of said current read and an unwound nucleotide sequence of at least one of said previous reads, whereby said difference contains the differences of the mapping positions and the nucleotide sequences, —pass said computed difference to an entropy coder to compress said difference, —encode said current read by the compressed difference, and —repeat the forgoing steps with said current read as one of said previous reads and a following read as a new current read until no more following reads are available.

Method for compressing genomic data

The disclosure concerns a method for determining a change in position and orientation of an object using data from a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) with the following steps: acquiring a radar image containing the object; dividing the radar image into at least two subimages; acquiring short radar information comprising a first reflected pulse, which has been recorded by the radar and/or a quantity derived therefrom, the first reflected pulse having information about image data of the radar image; for the short radar information, performing an autofocus method which determines a change in distance for each of the at least two subimages; and determining the change in position and orientation of the object given for each point of the object by the respective change in distance of the corresponding subimage.

System and method for determining a change of position and orientation of an object

The present disclosure relates to encoding and decoding video by employing texture coding. In particular, a texture region is identified within a video picture and a texture patch is determined for the texture region. Moreover, a first set of parameters is derived specifying weighting factors for reconstructing spectral coefficients of the texture region by fitting the texture region in a spectral domain to a first function of the texture patch, the first function being defined by the first set of parameters. The texture patch and the first set of parameters are then included into a bitstream which is output by an encoder and provided in this way to the decoder which reconstructs the texture based on the patch and the function applied to the patch.

Frequency adjustment for texture synthesis in video coding

The present disclosure relates to encoding a decoding video employing texture coding. In particular, a texture region is identified within a video picture and a texture patch is determined for said region. Moreover, a set of parameters specifies luminance within the texture region () by fitting the texture region samples to a two-dimensional polynomial function of the patch determined according to the set of parameters (); and/or motion within the texture region by fitting motion estimated between the texture region of the video picture and an adjacent picture to a two-dimensional polynomial The texture patch and the first set of parameters are then included into a bitstream which is output of the encoder and provided in this way to the decoder which reconstructs the texture based on the patch and the function applied to the patch.

Polynomial fitting for motion compensation and luminance reconstruction in texture synthesis

A frame buffer is adapted to store at least one reference frame of a video stream, said reference frame being different from a current frame of the video stream. A motion estimation unit is adapted to generate a motion vector by estimating motion between a reference block of the reference frame and a current block of the current frame. A blurring filter selection unit is adapted to select one of a plurality of blurring filters depending on the orientation of the motion vector. A filtering unit is adapted to generate a filtered reference block by applying the selected blurring filter to the reference block. A motion compensation unit is adapted to generate a filtered prediction block of the current block on the basis of the current block, the motion vector and the filtered reference block.
