A crystallizing glass solder for high-temperature applications, which is free of PbO and contains, in % by weight on an oxide basis: 45% to 60% of BaO; 25% to 40% of SiO; 5% to 15% of BO; 0 to &#x3c;2% of AlO; 2 to 7.0, preferably 4.4 to 7.0%, of MgO; and at least one alkaline earth metal oxide from the group consisting of MgO, CaO and SrO, wherein CaO is 0% to 5% and the sum of the alkaline earth metal oxides MgO, CaO and SrO is 2% to 15%. Preferred embodiments of the glass solder contain from 3 to 15 wt. % of YOand have low porosity and high stability with respect to a moist fuel gas environment.

Crystallizing glass solders and uses thereof

A crystallizing glass solder for high-temperature applications, containing, in % by weight on an oxide basis: 45% to 60% of BaO, 25% to 40% of SiO, 5% to 15% of BO, 0 to &#x3c;2% of AlO, and at least one alkaline earth metal oxide from the group consisting of MgO, CaO and SrO, wherein CaO is 0% to 5% and the sum of the alkaline earth metal oxides MgO, CaO and SrO is 0% to 20%, preferably 2% to 15%. The glass solder is preferably free from TeOand PbO. Preferred embodiments of the glass solder contain from 3 to 15 wt. % of YOand have low porosity and high stability with respect to a moist fuel gas environment.

Crystallizing glass solder and use thereof

The method produces powder particles that are uniformly coated with functional groups. It includes homogenizing, in an agitator mill, a suspension of glass, quartz, glass ceramic, and/or ceramic particles in a suspending agent together with a coating agent, so that the particles in the suspension react with the coating agent in the agitator mill to form the uniformly coated powder particles with functional groups. Preferably a weight ratio of the suspending agent to the particles is from 0.5:1 to 5:1. The suspending agent is preferably an aqueous solvent and the coating agent is preferably a silane. The uniformly coated powder particles have a particle size (d) of less than 2 &#x3bc;m, have a specific surface of 5 to 40 m/g, and are free of agglomerates.

Powder particles that are uniformly coated with functional groups, method for their production and use thereof

The method for producing glass-coated electronic components includes processing a lead-free glass with a liquid to form a suspension, applying the suspension on an electronic component body and subsequently sintering the component body with the suspension on it. The lead-free glass contains, in % by weight, SiO, 3-12; BO, 15-&#x3c;25; AlO, 0-6; CsO, 0-5; MgO, 0-5; BaO, 0-5; BiO, 0-5; CeO, 0.01-1; MoO, 0-1; SbO, 0-2 and ZnO, 50-65. The method can be used to passivate electronic components.

Method for producing an electronic component passivated by lead free glass

A glass powder or a glass-ceramic powder is provided that includes multicomponent glasses with at least three elements, where the glass powder or a glass-ceramic powder has a mean particle size of less than 1 &#x3bc;m. In some embodiments, the mean particle size is less than 0.1 &#x3bc;m, while in other embodiments the mean particle size is less than 10 nm.

Nano glass powder and use thereof, in particular multicomponent glass powder with a mean particle size of less than 1 &#x3bc;m

The X-ray opaque glass is characterized by a composition, in mol %, of SiO, 75-98; YbO, 0.1 to 40; and ZrO, 0 to 40. Preferred embodiments of the glass are free of AlOand BO. The glass is produced from the glass batch by melting at a temperature of at least 1500&#xb0; C. in an iridium or iridium alloy vessel with the assistance of high-frequency radiation. In preferred embodiments of the glass production process at least one raw material ingredient is present in the batch as a nanoscale powder. The glass is useful in dental applications, optical applications, and biomedical applications, or for photovoltaics, or as a target material in PVD processes.

X-ray opaque glass, method for the production and use thereof

The invention relates to a method for the production of glass-coated electric components, wherein the components are, inter alia, passivated by the application of the glass. The lead-free glass used is not affected through purification and processing steps and the electric component is protected from mechanical damaging and other detrimental influences, such as impurities. Further, the method remarkably helps to stabilize the electrical properties of the components. Inter alia, a sufficient acid resistance is achieved and it results in an improvement of the expansion adjustment of the glass.
