An attachment assembly for attaching a fluid container to a fluid warmer of a system for extracorporeal blood treatment is disclosed. The assembly includes a hook-shaped fixture located on the fluid warmer, a pin-shaped fixture located on the fluid warmer, and receiving members located on the fluid container to receive the hook-shaped fixture and the pin shaped fixture located on the fluid warmer. A fluid warmer containing a hook-shaped fixture located on the fluid warmer and a pin-shaped fixture located on the fluid warmer of a fluid bag attachment assembly is also disclosed. Tubing guides present on the fluid warmer in conjunction with tubes of differing lengths attached to the fluid bag reduce the occurrence of usage errors during insertion of the fluid bag into the fluid warmer.

Attachment assembly for attaching a fluid bag to a fluid warmer of a system for extracorporeal blood treatment

An extracorporeal blood treatment device is disclosed. The device includes a blood treatment unit connected to an extracorporeal blood circuit, a waste liquid discharge line for evacuating waste treatment liquid from the blood treatment unit, and a collecting container for collecting waste treatment liquid evacuated via the waste liquid discharge line. The collecting container is removably connected to the waste liquid discharge line via a one way valve. A collecting container for a device is also disclosed. The container includes a waste fluid input line, wherein a one way valve is arranged in the waste fluid input line.

Extracorporeal blood treatment device and collecting container thereof

Methods and devices implementing, for detecting a recirculation, at the side of a dialysis solution, by a blood-sided administration of a bolus are disclosed. Recirculation may be detected by: measuring a first light absorbance value (ad) of a dialysis solution (d) draining off a dialyzer using a spectrometer, prior to the administration of the bolus; venous administration of the bolus having a predefined volume (QBven) at the venous access; measuring a second light absorbance value (bd) of the draining dialysis solution using a spectrometer, after the administration of the bolus; and determining a change in the absorbance value between the first (ad) and second (bd) measured absorbance values due to the presence of a bolus in the dialysis solution during recirculation as a basis for the recirculation quantification.

Recirculation detection by administration of a bolus

Control methods of a dialysis machine for allowing the dialysate-side detection of a recirculation in an arteriovenous shunt of a patient during ongoing hemodialysis are described. A sensor is arranged downstream of a dialyzer and detects a change of a physicochemical parameter Pof outflowing dialysis fluid. Control elements are provided to guide the dialysis fluid in a selected manner through the dialyzer or pass it by. Recirculation may be determined by passing the dialysis fluid by the dialyzer so that the dialysis fluid is guided unchanged along the sensor for calibration, switching the control elements after optional sensor calibration such that the dialysis fluid flows through the dialyzer, and adjusting a desired first blood flow value BFin the blood-side extracorporeal circulatory branch so that between an inlet of the extracorporeal circulatory branch and an outlet a recirculation R and, a first clearance Kare adjusted and the parameter detected by the sensor adopts a corresponding value P, changing the first blood flow value BFto a second blood flow value BF, wherein a second clearance Kis adjusted, and accordingly at the sensor a new parameter value Pis provided and detected, and determining the recirculation R by the course of change from the parameter value Pto the parameter value P.

Method of detecting recirculation in an arteriovenous shunt during ongoing hemodialysis and dialysis system

Apparatus and methods for the extracorporeal treatment of blood are described. The apparatus includes a dialyzer which is separated into a first and second chamber by a semipermeable membrane, wherein the first chamber is disposed in a dialysis fluid path and the second chamber can be connected to the blood circulation of a patient by way of a blood inflow conduit and a blood outflow conduit, a feed for fresh dialysis fluid, a discharge for spent dialysis fluid, a measuring device disposed within the discharge for determining the absorption of the spent dialysis fluid flowing through the discharge, wherein the measuring device has at least one radiation source for substantially monochromatic electromagnetic radiation, and a detector system for detecting the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation, wherein means are provided to compensate for changes that occur in the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation of the radiation source and/or the sensitivity of the detector system.
