Examples of the present disclosure relate to User Equipment positioning. Certain examples provide an apparatus (), for example such as a RAN node () or a Location server (), configured to: determine Position Reference Signal, PRS, configuration information () comprising information for enabling a network element, for example such as a UE () or a RAN node (), of a RAN () to: send a PRS (), wherein the PRS comprises: a first portion () of the PRS configured to be sent in a first time interval (T) over a first frequency range (fr); a second portion () of the PRS configured to be sent in a second time interval (T), different to the first time interval, over a second frequency range (fr), wherein the second frequency range partially overlaps the first frequency range thereby defining an overlapping frequency range (ofr); and wherein a subrange of frequencies (ufr) of the second frequency range is not used to send the second portion of the PRS; and send, the PRS configuration information to the network element of the RAN.

User equipment positioning

UE positioning is added by use of a reconfigurable reflecting surface (e.g., IRS). The IRS is configured to adjust elements of the surface. The configuration may include signal switching on or off, signal phase, group delay, or signal amplitude. Positioning reference signal transmissions are performed that have line of sight to the UE and that reflect off the IRS. The UE takes measurements for the transmissions and can determine measurement(s) of angle of arrival or time of arrival or reference signal received power, and/or determine a channel estimation. Multiple methods are proposed to provide UE positioning.

An apparatus is disclosed, the apparatus comprising means for estimating a first angle (θ) between a first path between a first base station and at least one target node and a second path between the first base station and a second base station, and estimating a second angle (θ) between a third path between the second base station and the at least one target node and the second path. The apparatus also comprises means for determining a value (Δd) indicative of a difference between a first distance between the at least one target node and the first base station and a second distance between the at least one target node and the second base station, wherein determining the value is based on the estimated first and second angles (θ) (θ) and a known distance (l) between the first and second base stations.

Apparatus and method for time synchronization

A central node receives, from each of a plurality of access points providing access for user equipments to a communication network, a result of a measurement related to a position of a user equipment, receives additional information comprising at least one of an evaluation of the result of the measurement and a reference towards which the measurement was done, and calculates the position of the user equipment by combining the results of the measurements received from the plurality of access points using at least one of the evaluation and the reference.

The embodiments of the invention relate to antenna array (AA) for transmitting and/or for receiving radio frequency signals. The antenna array (AA) contains a first antenna element (AE) and a second antenna element (AE) forming a first basic arrangement (BA). The present invention relates to the field of wireless access systems and more particularly to a broadband wireless access system and a transmission method for such system. At least two data streams () are simultaneously transmitted in a multi-user channel () having a location dependent capacity. The data streams () are transmitted on the same radio resources. Preferably, the data streams are combined in a transmitter and separated in a receiver using different modulation and/or coding for the data streams.

There is provided a method of transmitting signaling messages. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the method is performed by a first base station of a communication network. The first base station and the second base station of the communication network provide simultaneously a service to a terminal. The first base station transmits signaling messages relating to the provision of the service to the second base station via a relay component. The relay component is linked with the first base station and the second base station via radio links of the communication network. The relay component may be comprised in the terminal to which the service is provided or another terminal with corresponding functionality or a dedicated relay component of the communication network.

The invention relates to a method of reducing a peak to average power ratio of a signal, wherein the signal comprises data that is designated for transmission to a sector of a plurality of sectors, and wherein the method comprises the steps of selecting a first subset of radio resources from a given set of radio resources and of assigning a subset of radio resources from the remaining set of radio resource to each sector of said plurality of sectors.
