The invention relates to opaque colored multilayer articles having a substrate layer based on polycarbonate or polymethylmethacrylate. The compositions of the substrate layer contain a titanium dioxide having particular properties as white pigment. Compared to the Kronos® 2230 white pigment which is conventionally used as white pigment for corresponding compositions and has more particularly been specially matched to polycarbonate, it is possible to achieve considerably higher weathering stability of the colored shaped bodies provided that a UV absorber-containing coating has been applied to the substrate layer. Color stability and gloss are maintained even after weathering, and brilliant colors can thus be assured.

A masterbatch comprising pigment and demolding agent is provided. The demolding agent is selected from the group comprising low molecular weight polyolefin oils, low molecular weight polyolefin waxes, montan waxes and aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid esters of fatty acids and/or fatty alcohols, wherein the pigment content of the masterbatch is from 3 to 70 wt. %, based on the total weight of the masterbatch. The masterbatch is suitable for preparation of a polymer composition having improved pigment dispersion.

An embodiment of the present invention relates to a composition comprising a) at least one transparent thermoplastic material; b) at least one inorganic IR absorber comprising at least one boride compound present in an amount of from 0.0015 wt. % to 0.015 wt. %, calculated as solids content of boride in the total polymer composition; and c) at least one inorganic, nano-scale pigment present in an amount of from 0.0008 wt. % to 0.0035 wt. %, based on the total composition; and d) optionally further additives.

The present invention relates to organic coloring agents with a high color stability to weathering for thermoplastics. The invention furthermore relates to a polymer composition containing at least one thermoplastic and at least one organic coloring agent, preferably a combination of at least two organic coloring agents, of a specific structure. The invention moreover relates to the use of the coloring agents according to the invention for coloring polymer compositions, in particular for transparent formulations such as are required for the production of panes for use in buildings, motor vehicles and track vehicles or aircraft.
