In a method for ascertaining the heart rate of the driver of a vehicle, the eye position is determined with the aid of a camera, and an image section of the driver's head is acquired. To ascertain the heart rate, successive images which were recorded over time with the aid of the camera are analyzed.

A method for recognizing a change of a relative yaw angle at a stereo video system for a vehicle. An image pair is read in from first and second cameras at a first time, and a further image is read in from the first camera at a later time. A stationary surface is ascertained using the image pair and the stereo base to obtain an angle of inclination of the stereo video system. The stationary surface is determined using the first image of the image pair and the further image to obtain a comparison angle. A correspondence transformation between the first image and the further image is acquired if the stereo video system has moved by a distance between the first time and the further time. The angle of inclination is compared with the comparison angle to recognize the change of the relative yaw angle.

A radar sensor having multiple antenna elements for transmitting and receiving radar signals, an associated transmitting and receiving element and an evaluation device for determining the azimuth angle of located objects on the basis of a relationship between the signals received from different antenna elements, wherein the transmitting and receiving element is designed to supply to the antenna elements transmission signals in parallel, the frequencies of which are offset with respect to one another, and the evaluation device is designed to distinguish between signals that were transmitted by different antenna elements on the basis of the frequency offset.

Angular resolution radar sensor

A radar sensor including an antenna array having multiple antenna elements situated next to one another and at least one feeding point at an outer antenna element. The antenna elements are connected in series via delay lines. The radar sensor has at least two transmitting and receiving units which are each suitable for generating and evaluating a radar signal at a predefined frequency. The at least two transmitting and receiving units are connected to a feeding point of the antenna array. The frequencies of the radar signals of the at least two transmitting and receiving units are predefinable independently of one another.

An antenna has an antenna body having a plurality of first antenna elements, which are disposed along a first straight line. A hollow conductor, which extends between the first antenna elements, is disposed in the antenna body. The first antenna elements are developed as openings running between the hollow conductor and a surface of the antenna body. The antenna is designed to radiate a signal in a spatial direction that is a function of a frequency of the signal. The antenna body has an electrically insulating material that is coated with a conductive material.

A method and device for identifying and classifying objects, electromagnetic radiation being emitted by a sensor, the radiation components reflected on objects being received by the sensor, the received signals being analyzed by comparison with stored characteristic values and the class of the reflecting object being deduced on the basis of the analysis. To this end, an analyzer is provided for analyzing the received signals, a memory is provided for storing characteristic patterns, its stored patterns being compared with the analyzed signals and thus the class of the reflecting objects being deducible on the basis of the comparison.

An antenna has an antenna body having a plurality of first antenna elements situated along a first straight line. The antenna body includes a first conductive grounded surface and a second conductive grounded surface, the first and second grounded surfaces being situated essentially parallel to one another. A dielectric is situated between the first and second grounded surfaces. A signal conductor is also situated between the first and second grounded surfaces. The first antenna elements are designed as apertures situated above the signal conductor in the first grounded surface. Furthermore, the antenna is designed to emit a signal in a direction in space, depending on a frequency of the signal. At least two of the first antenna elements differ from one another in such a way that their power emissions are different.

In a method for checking the plausibility of objects in driver assistance systems for motor vehicles is described, two measured variables are derived from position data from two object position-finding systems of the vehicle that operate independently of one another, for an object located by the two position-finding systems, one variable for each position-finding system, these variables representing one and the same physical parameter, and the two measured variables are then checked for consistency, which is characterized by the fact that the parameter is the time to collision of the vehicle with the object, which is calculated in advance.

A radar system for motor vehicles, having a radar sensor and an evaluation device for measuring distances and relative velocities of objects in the surrounding field of the vehicle, and a collision detection device, which, on the basis of the measured distances and relative velocities, recognizes an imminent collision and delivers data on the expected time of collision and the impact velocity to a precrash system. Radar system for motor vehicles

A method and device are provided for measuring distance and relative speed of a plurality of objects with the aid of an FMCW radar, transmitted signals being reflected by objects, and the reflected signals being received and mixed with the transmitted signals. A combination of distance and relative speed values is assigned to the mixer output frequencies of each frequency ramp for each object, and the distance and relative speed of a possible object are determined from points of intersection of a plurality of distance and relative speed combinations. The apparent (unreal) objects are eliminated by modifying the frequency slope of at least one frequency ramp according to the random principle in a subsequent measurement cycle.

Method and device for measuring the distance and relative speed of multiple objects

A method and a radar sensor for transmitting frequency-modulated transmitted signals and receiving partial waves reflected by objects in the sensor detection range. A frequency shift of the received signal relative to the transmitted signal is determined for each object reflecting in each frequency ramp, it being possible to determine the relative speeds and the distances of the detected objects from the combination of frequency shifts of a plurality of ramps. The objects detected in preceding measurement cycles are stored in a memory, their relative speed and their distance being computed in advance for a future measurement cycle. The expected frequency shifts are determined and the frequency shifts of a plurality of ramps are combined in order to determine the relative speeds and the distances for objects that have not yet been stored in the memory.

A radar system for motor vehicles, having an antenna, a first processor which is developed to transform signals supplied by the antenna via a primary signal path into a spectrum, and a second processor for the additional evaluation of the spectrum, wherein at least a part of the signals received by the antenna is able to be supplied to the second processor via a redundant signal path while by-passing the first processor, and the second processor, on its part, is designed to transform these signals into a spectrum.
