An engine line is described herein that includes a first engine including a front end accessory drive system and a second engine including a greater number of cylinders than the first engine and a front end accessory drive system. The engine line further includes a generator, in different manufacturing arrangements, mounting to each of the front engine accessory drive systems in the first and second engines in a common location.

Methods and systems are provided for an internal combustion engine having an oil circuit. In one example, a system may include a rising oil line from a block to a cylinder head of an engine; a main oil line in the head; and an oil siphon system including a reservoir positioned between, and having at least one portion at a lower elevation than both, a section the rising line and a section of the main oil line so that oil flows into, and remains in, the reservoir when the engine is shut-off. In this way, the design of the oil circuit may be used to improve oil supply to engine components while minimizing delays in oil supply during engine startup.

An internal combustion engine with a cylinder and with a crank drive is described herein. The internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft in which the crankshaft mounted in a crankcase has an associated crankshaft throw for the cylinder. The internal combustion engine further includes a compensation weight serving as a counterbalance for mass compensation arranged on the crankshaft on the side opposite the crankshaft throw, where the compensation weight includes an outward-facing side and a distance from a peripheral surface of the outward-facing side to a longitudinal axis of the crankshaft is not constant along the length of the peripheral surface of the outward-facing side.
