In one preferred embodiment, a set of air interface protocols (AIPs) provides a method for secure wireless-to-IP communication between conveyance-mounted security sensors and one or more remote data consolidation centers employing a global ad-hoc network topology, comprising one or more on-conveyance sensing devices; one or more on-conveyance wireless communications devices; one or more wireless-to-IP bridging devices; one or more internet-addressable remote data centers; wherein the remote data center contains computer instructions for: commanding secure AIP-compliant operations; and maintaining a data base of security sensor-related events interfacing to an encryption key management facility.

Advanced container security device network protocols

Physiological conditions of a plurality of individuals are monitored by using signals provided by sensors on each individual. Each individual has, positioned in close proximity to the individual, one or more sensors for sensing a physiological condition of the individual. A control module is capable of communicating with an external communication station and with the sensors. A wireless networked communication link is established between the control module and the external communication station. Indications of the physiological conditions for a plurality of individuals or physiological conditions derived from the physiological sensors, are transmitted on the wireless networked communication link to the external communication station.

A radioisotope-powered energy source comprising: a flexible center substrate coated with the radioisotope, wherein the substrate comprises upper and lower surfaces; and two substantially identical sequences of layers bonded to each other and to the upper and lower surfaces via electrically insulating mesh barriers, wherein each sequence comprises the following layers bonded together in a y-direction in the following order: a first low-density alpha particle impact layer, a first high-density beta particle impact layer, a second low-density alpha particle impact layer, a second radioisotope-coated substrate, a third low-density alpha particle impact layer, a second high-density beta particle impact layer, and a photovoltaic layer.

Radioisotope-powered energy source

In one embodiment, a wireless bridge for wireless to TCP/IP based communication is provided. The wireless bridge can be with reduced functional devices (RFDs) in a star topology network acting as a network access device (NAD). Another embodiment can be with fully functional devices (FFDs) in a peer-to-peer topology network also capable of operating as a NAD. The network address device includes a processor with memory; a radio frequency transceiver front end communicating with the processor; an antenna coupled to the front end; and a power source providing power to the processor and front end wherein the processor with memory contains computer instructions for executing IEEE 802.15.4 standard compliant operations; transmitting a network access device announcement (NADA) message representative of the initiation of passive network discovery to multiple end devices; determining whether a receiving/designated end device is network compliant; establishing communication with the compliant designated end device; and forwarding the NADA message to the designated end device.
