A dynamic mobile device feedback system is described. Feedback may be obtained using a device feedback client residing on the mobile device and a feedback server remote to the mobile device. The device feedback client may receive feedback solicitation inquiries (invitations/queries) and presentation rules from the feedback server, monitor the mobile device, identify trigger events associated with the mobile device, present the feedback solicitation inquiries in accordance with the presentation rules, and receive feedback from the user of the mobile device. The feedback may be sent to the feedback server for further processing.

Dynamic mobile device feedback methods, systems, and apparatus

An enhanced television service provides a shared folder over a television network, such as a fiber optic network. Users, the service provider, or trusted sources, share use of a program folder via television. A user recommends content, such as a program listing, to other geographically dispersed subscribers, by sending the content to the subscribers' shared folder. Users may create a personal content guide for use instead of a standard program guide that contains identical listings for all subscribers. The shared folder may consist of programs from a variety of channels as well as other content and may be populated by trusted sources in remote locations. Users may search for content that matches search criteria and may delete or edit listings from the shared folder. The contents of the folder may not only include program listings, but also other content such as movies, television shows, web sites, photos, home videos, etc.

A system includes a ratings server that receives the list of top applications from a source external to the ratings server and selects at least a subset of the top applications based at least in part on a rank of each of the top applications in the list. The system further includes a test server that tests at least one characteristic of each of the subset of top applications selected by the ratings server and outputs a rating representing the at least one characteristic. The ratings server determines a behavior of each of the subset of top applications based on the rating and publishes the behavior of the subset of top applications for access by a user over a communication network.

Method and system for customizable video playback controls

Preferred systems and methods provide a personal channel for broadcasting personal content to televisions over a network, such as a fiber optic access network. A service provider assigns a personal channel identifier to a broadcaster. This identifier allows viewers to tune to the personal channel. The broadcaster sends personal content to the service provider together with a list of authorized viewers for that personal content. The service provider stores the personal content and makes it available as specified by the subscriber for viewing. When requested, the service provider sends the personal content to the specified set top boxes on the assigned personal channel identifier. By tuning the set top box to the broadcaster's channel, viewers may view the personal content on television as though it were broadcast from any network television station.

A subscriber to a video service generally has available to them an on-screen program guide. The program guide lists programming (e.g., TV shows) that are available to the subscriber for a certain upcoming time period. The programming guide may sort the listings by channel and time, areas of interest, age appropriateness and/or MPAA or TV rating, free or additional cost, etc. In an embodiment, the programming guide includes an ability to make a selection to see which TV shows are recommended by reviewers. A user can manage battery consumption of a mobile device using a mobile device battery management program which provides improved battery management functions, such as a dynamic battery use estimator, a battery threshold manager, and a profile based battery manager. Using the dynamic battery use estimator, the user can input different configuration settings of the mobile device and get estimates of the projected remaining battery life for the inputted configuration settings before applying any change to the operational configuration setting. The battery threshold manager allows the user to select a trigger and set its associated condition for turning off at least one application, service, or component of the mobile device when the condition is reached. Using the profile based battery manager, the user can select one of multiple profiles and set the mobile device to operate in an operational configuration setting corresponding to the selected profile.

A system and method may include receiving, at a set top box, one or more user inputs from an input device, analyzing the one or more user inputs to identify last application data, prioritizing one or more pointers associated with the last application data based on at least usage data, receiving, at the set top box, one or more request messages from the input device, and outputting, to a display device, last application information, in response to receiving the one or more request messages, based on the prioritization of the one or more pointers.

A dynamic contact list for a mobile device presents address book contacts in varying arrangements based on external factors. The mobile device may receive a request to display a contact list and may retrieve a sort procedure for the contact list. The sort procedure may be based on a user's prior selections from a group of contact sort rules. The mobile device may retrieve a list of contact identifiers and other information associated with each contact identifier that is applicable to the sort procedure. The mobile device may then apply the sort procedure to the list of contact identifiers and to the information associated with each contact identifier so as to displaying a sorted list of contact identifiers based on the applied sort procedure.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing communications between a remote control and an advertising source

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing real-time access to movie information to viewers in an interactive television viewing system. During select times when viewing a program on a television, the viewer is presented information, typically an advertisement, regarding a movie available for viewing in a movie theater. The viewer can opt to review supplemental information regarding the movie, including information directed to the actors, plot, rating, and where and when it is showing relative to the viewer's location. The viewer can opt to purchase tickets as well. The system can be controlled in one embodiment by the user interacting with a set top box sending signaling information to a processor in the network headend that retrieves the appropriate information for display to the viewer. The information can be provided to the set-top-box and displayed to the user using an overlapping window, or other techniques.
