Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a 2-stage supercharging unit having a housing unit which integrates within it a high-pressure charger and a low-pressure charger. The rotor axes of the two chargers are vertical with respect to the housing unit, which can be screwed directly via the housing base to the side of an internal combustion engine. As a result, increased flexibility is made possible with regard to the connection of the supercharging unit to the cooler and to the internal combustion engine, whereby the structural volume of the supercharging assembly can be additionally reduced.

Housing of a radial compressor

An exemplary arrangement for securing the shaft of an exhaust-gas turbocharger includes a catch ring with a central opening and a radial projection on the shaft. The catch ring having an inner contour in the region of the central opening. The radial projection on the shaft is provided with an outer contour. The inner contour on the catch ring and the outer contour on the shaft are configured such that, during mounting of the shaft and of the turbine wheel connected thereto and in at least one specified angle position of the shaft with respect to the housing, the radially outwardly protruding projection on the shaft can be passed in an axial direction through the central opening of the housing element. The radially outwardly protruding projection abuts in the axial direction against the housing element in specified angle positions of the shaft with respect to the housing.

Rupture protection means

A shaft seal of the rotating wheel shaft of a turbomachine includes a rotating wheel-side seal and a bearing-side seal between the bearing housing and the shaft. An oil outlet chamber is arranged between the rotating wheel-side seal and the bearing-side seal. The oil outlet chamber is delimited by a third seal between the bearing housing and the shaft, and a gas discharge chamber is arranged between the third seal and the rotating wheel-side seal. The construction is actively cooled by means of at least one splash oil bore in the region of the oil drain channel, as a result of which coking of the shaft seal can be prevented. The third seal separates the oil issuing from the oil outlet chamber from the gas issuing from the gas discharge chamber.

Shaft seal

The piston ring sealing points of a sealing apparatus between the rotor and the housing of a continuous-flow machine each have a piston ring, a cylindrical contact surface, which is directed radially inward, on the housing, as well as an axial stop on the rotor. In this case, the piston ring of the outer piston ring sealing point has a larger external radius and a smaller internal radius than the piston ring of the inner piston ring sealing point. At the same time, the outer piston ring sealing point has a smaller internal radius than the inner piston ring sealing point. Because of the V-shaped arrangement concept, there is no need for a steel ring, shrunk onto the rotor, between the piston ring sealing points.

Compressor-side shaft seal of an exhaust-gas turbocharger

A device for sealing a bearing housing, which holds lubricating oil, from which a rotor supported inside the housing of an exhaust gas turbocharger is guided into a compressor housing, loadable by a mass flow of a charger. The device includes a fixed partition with a wall extension, a sealing disk fastened on a shaft of the rotor, a separating gap arranged between the sealing disk and the wall extension, and a drip device connected to an oil-collecting channel and directs lubricating oil collected in the oil-collecting channel into an oil drain by gravity. The drip device includes a drain-off surface for lubricating oil, which has a large axial distance from a rotating sealing disk which delimits the separating gap. Lubricating oil which can penetrate into the separating gap is guided into an oil drain of the bearing housing without interacting with the sealing disk.

Device for sealing a bearing housing of an exhaust gas turbocharger

A compressor casing includes a casing insert with a flexible element in the force flux between the insert wall contour and the outer compressor casing. The flexible element is assembled from a support ring and ribs, wherein the ribs axially in front of the support ring and the ribs axially behind the support ring are arranged in an offset manner in relation to each other. Due to the arrangement of the ribs in an offset manner, the axial force flux between the insert wall contour and the outer compressor casing is deflected twice, and an axially compliant flexible construction is achieved.

Bursting protection

The use of spring clamping clips between two adjacent guide vane shafts leads to a defined force on the bearing points of the guide vane in the guide bush. The seating force, resulting from the clamping force and the flow-related lift/drift forces, of the guide vane in the guide bush is therefore always positive and the guide vane rests constantly in the guide bush.
