Apparatus and methods for power amplifier power management are disclosed. In certain embodiments, a mobile device includes a transceiver that generates a radio frequency signal, a front-end system including a first power amplifier module that amplifies the radio frequency signal, and a power management system including an envelope tracking power management unit that provides an envelope tracking supply voltage to the first power amplifier module, and a first average power tracking power management unit that provides an average power tracking supply voltage to the first power amplifier module. The first power amplifier module is configured to selectively switch between the envelope tracking supply voltage and the average power tracking supply voltage.

Radio frequency front end modules are provided. In one aspect, a front end system includes at least one power amplifier configured to amplify a transmit radio frequency signal, at least one low noise amplifier configured to receive a receive radio frequency signal, an output node coupled to an antenna. The front end system also includes a first switch configured to selectively couple the output node to the at least one power amplifier during a transmit period and to the at least one low noise amplifier during a receive period, at least one transmit filter coupled between the power amplifier and the at least one switch, and at least one receive filter coupled between the low noise amplifier and the at least one switch. The front end system further includes a transmit supplemental filter, a receive supplemental filter, and a second switch.

Radio frequency communication systems with a combined antenna impedance tuning and antenna multiplexing functionality are provided. In certain embodiments, a packaged radio frequency module includes an antenna multiplexer and an antenna impedance tuner. The antenna impedance tuner can supplement antenna tuning provided by an antenna aperture separately connected to the antenna.

Described herein are systems, devices, and methods for front end configurations that support multiple input multiple output (MiMo) communication for cellular signals. The configurations include an antenna triplexer, a first multiplexer, and a second multiplexer. A first filter of the triplexer is coupled to a signal port of the first multiplexer, a second filter of the triplexer is coupled to a first signal port of the second multiplexer, and a third filter of the triplexer is coupled to a second signal port of the second multiplexer. The configurations include an antenna triplexer, a first multiplexer, and a second multiplexer. A first filter of the triplexer is coupled to a signal port of the first multiplexer, a second filter of the triplexer is coupled to a first signal port of the second multiplexer, and a third filter of the triplexer is coupled to a second signal port of the second multiplexer. Disclosed herein are systems, circuits, architectures and methods related to front-end architectures for wireless devices configured for uplink carrier aggregation. The disclosed methods dynamically route signals from a filter-less module to one of two modules with filters for filtering. The re-use of filters reduces the size of the filter-less module relative to a module that utilizes its own filters, thereby reducing costs, reducing size, and/or providing additional space for other modules or other functionality to be included in a wireless device.

Methods for re-using filters for uplink carrier aggregation

Described herein are systems, devices, and methods for a multi-standard radio switchable multiplexer that is configured to process wireless local area network (WLAN) signals and cellular signals in the same module without the use of cascaded filters. The disclosed systems use intelligent switching to direct cellular frequency bands along targeted paths and to direct WLAN signals along different paths, such as to a dedicated WLAN module for further processing. By removing notch filters coupled to cellular band filters and/or cascaded filters, insertion losses are reduced.
