A molded inductor includes a winding having leads configured for attaching leads of the winding to pads on a package substrate, having a magnetic core with a body disposed within the winding, wherein the magnetic core has at least one mold flow enhancing feature that enhances a filling of a magnetic mold material as compared to a filling provided by a uniform cylindrical body. The magnetic mold material encases the winding and the magnetic core to form either a standalone discrete inductor component, or the magnetic component of an output filter of an integrated switching power converter module.

A light-emitting diode (LED) driver system includes a control circuit that provides a waveform for driving a power transistor to generate a regulated current through one or more LEDs, and an error amplifier that generates an output compensation signal based on a comparison of a desired regulated current and an actual regulated current through the one or more LEDs. The output compensation signal is used to set an output compensation voltage that sets the duty cycle of the waveform. The LED driver system further comprises a dimming control device configured during a dimming control mode to alternate between dimming-on time periods and dimming-off time periods, and a sample and hold switch having a first state for holding the output compensation voltage fixed during each dimming-off time period, and a second state for restoring the error amplifier to its previous dimming-on operating state upon returning to each subsequent dimming-on time period.

LED driver systems and methods

A power supply has a plurality of switching regulators providing a like plurality of regulated output voltages. The oscillators of the switching regulators are synchronized with one another by a synchronization signal. A synchronization signal detector is provided on one or more of the switching regulators to shift the switching frequency of the oscillator to a lower frequency upon detection of a synchronization signal.
