An imaging system with an imaging assemblage including a prompt phosphor layer for converting an ionizing radiation image into a light image, and a transparent layer supporting the phosphor layer; wherein the light image is transmitted through the transparent layer; an electronic camera for converting the light image into an electronic image; and a light image transmission system between the imaging assemblage and the electronic camera for transmitting the light image to the electronic camera.

An electrophoresis device wherein a banana plug for connection to external power is mounted on a cover, and the cover and frame of the device together provide a switch for connecting and disconnecting electrically, the wiring of the inside of the device, and the banana plug, the switch being openable solely by vertically raising the cover, to minimize jolting forces delivered, upon connect or disconnect, to samples inside.

Connectors for electrophoresis device

An electronic thermometer includes a color coded probe permanently fastened by an electrical cable to a color coded isolation chamber to prevent inadvertent use of a rectal probe with an oral isolation chamber. Red and blue isolation chambers used for oral and rectal temperatures, respectively, can readily be used with one thermometer housing. A connector between the isolation chamber and the housing automatically connects and disconnects the probe and the thermometer circuits when the isolation chamber is inserted into or removed from the housing. Moreover, insertion of the probe into the isolation chamber automatically actuates a switch in the electronic thermometer housing to deactivate the electric circuits. Withdrawal of the probe from the chamber automatically supplies power to the thermometer circuits to ready the thermometer for operation.

An apparatus for use in monitoring fetal heartbeat and the like. The apparatus includes a tubular member having a distal end adapted to be inserted through the vagina and cervix of a woman in labor. A coil is movably mounted in the tubular member and is adapted to be rotatably attached to the fetus. A linear to rotary converter is provided for applying a rotary force to turn the coil for attaching to the fetus in response to the linear force applied by a user to the additional elements and additional means serve to yieldably r esist the linear force applied by the user.

Apparatus for monitoring fetal heartbeat and the like

An apparatus used for measuring the pressure within a body cavity and methods of manufacturing and using same. An elongated catheter has its perforated body end disposed in a guide tube used for introducing the catheter. Both the catheter and guide tube are prefilled with sterile liquid and sealed against loss thereof and disposition of the guide tube and catheter. The gauge end of the guide tube is releasably sealed and secured by a tubular member fitted frictionally over the gauge end of the guide tube and catheter.

Sealing apparatus for intrauterine pressure catheter and the like

An improved electrode structure for use in monitoring fetal heartbeat and the like. A guide tube has an open forward end adapted to be inserted through the vagina and cervix of a woman in labor. A signal acquisition device, adapted to rotatably engage a fetal epidermis, is slidably and rotatably disposed in the guide tube. A driving member is slidably and rotatably disposed in the guide tube for driving the signal acquisition device into engagement with a fetal epidermis. A line is attached to the driving member and is wrapped circumferentially around at least a portion of the driving member. A device is affixed to the line for pulling it tangentially with respect to the drive member, whereby the driving member and the signal acquisition device may be rotated for engaging a fetal epidermis.

Rotating mechanism for introducing a fetal electrode

A support board for use in securing the extremities of an infant against motion and method of assembling same. A rigid support member is provided. A pad of flexible material is shaped to back the support member and form a plurality of flexible straps for holding the support board to the extremity. In a preferred method of assembling the support board, the pad is affixed to the support member by folding a central member of the pad over two sides of the support member and affixing the support member between the folds of the central member.
