Compositions containing at least one aminoalkoxy amine of the formula: ##STR1## in which x is a whole number of from 1 to 3, are provided. They are prepared by cyanoethylation of tris(5-hydroxy-3-oxa-pentyl)amine with acrylonitrile followed by hydrogenation. They are useful as manufacturing intermediates, additives for lubricating oils, and in the synthesis of polyurethanes.

Novel compositions having a base of aminoalkoxy amines

A process is provided for the production of hydroxybenzaldehydes, especially salicylaldehyde, from the oxidation of the corresponding hydroxybenzyl alcohol, especially orthohydroxybenzyl alcohol, with oxygen in an aqueous alkaline medium in the presence of a noble metal catalyst, such as platinum or palladium, and in the presence of a co-catalyst containing bismuth.
