The present invention relates to a method for sterilizing an article inside a sealed container by placing a polyoxymethylene melt formable co-polymer fiber that has been irradiated between about 1 and 200 kGy and then heated at from about 20&#xb0; C. to about 90&#xb0; C. for a selected period of time.

High efficiency polymeric sterilant container assembly

A method for preparing one or more lubricated surfaces of an article to reduce the break-out force and sliding frictional force. A lubricant is applied to one or more surfaces, and the lubricant-coated surface is treated by exposing the surface to an energy source, wherein the energy source is an ionizing gas plasma at about atmospheric pressure, gamma radiation, or electron beam radiation. One or more of the surfaces may be exposed to the ionizing gas plasma at about atmospheric pressure prior to application of the lubricant. Another aspect of the invention is articles produced using one or more methods of the invention.

A system and a method for coating two sides of a laminate material is disclosed in which one side of the laminate material is coated with one substance and the second side is coated with a different substance. The method described is particularly suited for applying a substance providing balancing characteristics desirable in the end product to one side of the laminate material and applying a substance providing other characteristics desirable in the end product to the other side of the laminate material. For example, a balancing substance may be applied on one side of a kraft paper sheet and a substance providing structural bonding applied to the other side, thereby eliminating the need to use a discrete balancing sheet in a laminate. The kraft sheet thus coated may be used to form a laminate panel.

System and method for two sided sheet treating

A system and a method for coating two sides of a laminate material is disclosed in which one side of the laminate material is coated with one substance and the second side is coated with a different substance. The method described is particularly suited for applying a substance providing characteristics desirable in the manufacturing process to one side of the laminate material and applying a substance providing characteristics desirable in the end product to the other side of the laminate material. For example, a release agent may be applied on one side of a kraft paper sheet and phenolic resin on the other side, thereby eliminating the need to use release sheets in the manufacture of laminates. The kraft sheet thus coated may be used in a laminate product.

A laminate panel having desired characteristics even though the materials having these desired characteristics are not compatible in at least one aspect is disclosed. One of the substances having the desired characteristics may be adapted to be compatible with the other substance, and the two substances placed adjacent to each other. For example, the laminate panel includes a liquid impermeable layer that substantially prevents the penetration of moisture. The panel also includes a layer of a balancing substance disposed adjacent to the liquid impermeable layer to balance another layer of the laminate panel. The balancing substance is adapted to provide a desired bonding between the liquid impermeable layer and the layer of the balancing substance.

Reverse roll coating may be used to coat the two surfaces of the sheet of laminate material. A waterproof laminate panel is disclosed. The panel includes a decorative layer and a backing layer. The backing layer is composed of at least one resin impregnated layer bound to a waterproofing layer which substantially prevents the penetration and release of moisture from the panel so as to maintain a constant moisture content within the decorative panel. The resin impregnated layer faces the decorative layer and the waterproofing layer is exposed to an external environment.
