An RJ-45 modular jack connector includes a housing defining a cavity for receiving an RJ-45 plug connector therein, a terminal insert assembled to the housing, an anti-mismating device assembled in the housing and a shield covering the housing. The anti-mismating device comprises a block part and a spring part secured to the block part. The block part with the spring part is assembled in the housing with the block part partly projecting into the cavity of the housing. When the RJ-45 plug connector is inserted into the modular jack receptacle connector, the RJ-45 plug connector pushes the block part to the side, compressing the spring part and moving the block part out of the way of the RJ-45 plug connector. Thus the RJ-45 plug connector is fully inserted into the cavity of the housing. When an RJ-11 plug connector is mistakenly inserted into the modular jack connector, the smaller RJ-11 plug connector will not move the block part aside and be blocked by the block part from full insertion into the cavity.

A RJ-receptacle connector with anti-incorrect-insertion device comprises a housing defining a receiving space for electrically receiving a complementary plug connector therein. A terminal insert is adapted to be arranged to the housing and includes a plurality of terminals integrally formed thereof. Each terminal includes a contact portion extending into the receiving space, and a solder tail extends downward from a bottom face of the housing. Anti-incorrect-insertion device is arranged in an entrance of the receiving space and blocking insertion of other connectors except the complementary plug connector.

Adaptor

A cable plug connector for engaging with a PCMCIA I/O card consists of a housing having an upper wall defining an opening, a lower wall, a front end for proximity to the I/O card and a rear end from which wires of a cable extend into the connector. A printed circuit board (PCB) is fixedly received in the housing. A light-emitting diode (LED) is soldered to the PCB. A connector body is fixed to the front end of the housing and defines a number of contact passageways therein. A number of contacts each have a contact portion fixedly received in the corresponding contact passageway and a tail portion soldered to the PCB. A metallic shielding defining an opening is mounted to the connector body and covers the PCB, wherein the opening of the shielding is aligned with the LED and the opening in the upper wall of the housing. A light pipe made of transparent/translucent material is fixed to the upper wall of the housing and has an upper portion extending through the opening therein and an lower portion extending through the opening in the shielding to contact with the LED, whereby light emitted by the LED can be transmitted to an upper side of the housing.

An electrical card for providing a computer system with a signal processing module, includes metallic top and bottom covers, an insulative supporting frame, a circuit board, a first connector, a second connector and a grounding plate. The grounding plate is securely attached to the first connector by engagement between attachment plates of the grounding plate and extension arms of the first connector. The first connector together with the grounding plate are attached to the supporting frame by means of engagement between L-shaped interlocking members of the first connector and L-shaped interlocking recesses of the supporting frame. The supporting bracket is attachably received in the bottom cover, the second connector is mounted to one end of the circuit board, and the circuit board is received within the supporting bracket whereby the grounding plate forms a grounding path from grounding pads of the circuit board to the bottom cover. Finally, the top cover is engaged with the bottom cover to complete assembly of the electrical card.

Electrical card

An electrical connector assembly (10) includes a universal bracket (12) for retaining at least a group of audio jack units (17) therein. Each audio jack unit (17) includes a plurality of signal contacts (22) and at least a grounding contact (24) thereof for mounting to a mother board (100) on which the assembly (10) is seated. A grounding clip (26) is retainably attached to the corresponding audio jack unit (17) under the condition that one spring finger (38) thereof contacts the grounding contact (24) and an engagement tang (46) thereof projects out of the front surface (49) of the universal bracket (12) for efficient engagement with the front panel of the computer case which the bracket (12) confronts.

Side-by-side dual-port USB connector

An adapter (10) includes a pair of male/female connectors (12, 14) solderably positioned on two ends of a PC board (16). A pair of identical metal shells (20) are adapted to be engaged with each other with their grounding tangs (38) extending at two ends thereof, respectively, for conductive engagement with the metal shieldings (60, 80) of such pair of connectors (12, 14). The metal shells (20) also defines a space for protectively enclosing the PC board (16) therein. A pair of identical plastic covers (40) are fixedly aligned and attached to each other commonly enclosing such pair of metal shells (20) therein. The metal shells (20) are restrained between the pair of connectors (12, 14), and fixedly aligned with the corresponding covers (40), respectively. The connectors (12, 14) are aligned with and confinably received within the covers (40). Two interconnection ports of such pair of connectors (12, 14) are respectively exposed to the exterior at opposite ends of the adapters (10).

Adapter and mechanism thereof

A stacked type connector assembly (10) includes an insulative bracket (12) defining an upper level portion (14) and a lower level portion (16) for respectively receiving a first connector (18) and a second connector (20) therein. A first mounting surface (24) is formed on the upper level portion (14) whereby the first connector (18) can be supportably mounted thereon, and a second mounting surface (30) is formed on the lower level portion (16) whereby the second connector (20) can be engageably attached thereto, wherein such first mounting surface (24) is disposed between a pair of side walls (22) while such second mounting surface (30) is composed of two abutment planes (36) disposed by two sides of such pair of side walls (22). A first pair of boardlocks (53) helpfully fasten the first connector (18) to the bracket (12) in the upper portion (14) thereof and a second pair of boardlocks (68) fasten the second connector (20) to the bracket (12) in the lower portion (16) thereof. The bracket (12) further provides a spacer structure (48) on the rear portion for aligning the contact tails (19) of the first connector (18) with regard to the board on which the bracket (12) with the first and the second connectors (18, 20) is mounted.

An arrangement for adoption of either the traditional UART D-Sub connector (70) or the upgrading USB connector (10) with a same mother board (100), includes a side-by-side dual-port USB connector assembly (10), which is generally integrally formed by two standard four-pin simplex type USB connector units (14), and the mother board (100), wherein the electrical and mechanical layout on the mother board (100) is arranged in some specific area not only for mounting the traditional D-Sub connector (70) but also the updated USB connector (10) thereon.
