The disclosure relates an apparatus and method for assembling at least two webs of tissue paper with or without marking of the webs. The apparatus and method utilize a multi-marrying roller configuration, which allows for assembling of the at least two webs of tissue paper by passing between the marrying roller and the second marrying roller. The apparatus and method make it possible to produce a conventional embossed product, or a smooth product without marking, having combined plies. In addition, the apparatus and method make it possible to easily move from one production mode to the other.

This invention relates to a method for the production of a coreless roll (') including a sheet () of flexible, not moist, material such as a fibrous absorbent material, produced by winding of the sheet in one direction and rolling this sheet about a winding axis perpendicular to such direction, and including a central dispensing leader forming a projection along such axis relative to at least one part of the plane of one of the sides of the roll. The method is characterized in that the leader is produced by displacing a portion of the end of the sheet () before winding so that one of the longitudinal edges of the sheet forms an angle (&#x3b1;) other than zero relative to such direction of winding, after which winding of the sheet about the axis is initiated. By preference several sheets are produced by longitudinal cutting of a wide sheet. The solution may be applied for production in particular of general wipe rolls, hand towel rolls, or toilet paper rolls.

The invention relates to a filter system () including a filter element () for filtering a fluid within a cylindrical case (). The present invention is directed to an embossed ply suitable for use in a multi-ply, embossed paper. The embossed ply has bosses of two different depths wherein the bosses having a greater depth or the 'big bosses' alternate with the more shallow bosses or 'small bosses'. When the embossed ply is used to form a multi-ply paper, the small bosses are arranged in a tip-to-tip relation with bosses in a second embossed ply, while the big bosses of the first ply are positioned to nest between the bosses of the second ply.
