An open-ear headphone includes an acoustic module, a battery housing, and a body coupled to the acoustic module. The acoustic module includes a portion that is configured to sit in a cavum conchae of an outer ear of a user, an acoustic transducer, and a first sound-emitting opening that is configured to emit sound produced by the acoustic transducer. The battery housing is configured to be located behind the outer ear and contains a battery power source. The body is coupled to the acoustic module and includes a first portion that is configured to pass over an outer side of at least one of an anti-helix and a helix and a lobule of the outer ear, and a second portion comprising the battery housing.

An open-ear headphone with an acoustic module that is configured to be located at least in part in a concha of an outer ear of a user. The acoustic module includes an acoustic transducer, and a sound-emitting opening that is configured to emit sound produced by the acoustic transducer. A battery housing is configured to be located behind the outer ear and contains a battery power source. A compliant connecting portion couples the battery housing to the acoustic module. The connecting position enables displacement of the battery housing relative to the acoustic module.

Various aspects include wearable audio devices and related systems. In particular implementations, a wearable audio device includes: a base having: an acoustic transducer; a controller coupled with the acoustic transducer; and terminals for connecting a power source; and a first cap including: an antenna; and a battery including terminals for connecting with the terminals in the base, where the first cap is removably coupled to the base.

Aspects of the present disclosure provide a headphone assembly having a customizable ear cups. Specifically, a user may customize an outer surface of an ear cup assembly by selecting one or more of color to be illuminated on the outer surface and an insert. The insert further diffuses the illuminate light. A trim ring that secures the insert is configured to overlay the lightpipe and a portion of an ear cup subassembly regardless of the presence of the insert.

A cover for a wearable personal acoustic device includes a fabric cover shaped to receive and enclose a wearable personal acoustic device, and an identification tag, such as an RFID tag or optical tag, secured to the fabric cover. The fabric cover includes a stretchable material that is acoustically transparent. The fabric cover may include a closure mechanism that can provide an opening through which the wearable personal acoustic device is received or removed and a closed state in which the wearable personal acoustic device is enclosed by the fabric cover. The identification tag stores an identifier associated with the fabric cover and communicates with the wearable personal acoustic device through an identification reader. The identifier may be associated with a physical property of the fabric cover or an operational parameter of the wearable personal acoustic device. The operational parameter optionally is definable by a user.
