An exchangeable cartridge for an injection device is disclosed. The cartridge () comprises a container () and a plunger () connectable with a plunger rod (). The container receives the plunger rod from its rear end. The plunger comprises a rod connector () connectable with a front portion (), and the rod connector has a base portion (), an outer wall section (), an inner wall section (), and a rod stop portion () encircled by the inner wall section. The inner wall section comprises several tongues () protruding rearwards from the base portion and defining an entrance opening () for the plunger rod. The inner wall section receives a front portion () of the plunger rod through the entrance, and the tongues are provided with retaining portions arranged to retain the front end portion during retraction of the plunger rod within the housing.

Exchangeable cartridge for an injection device

A surgical apparatus comprises a body, a user input feature, a shaft assembly, an end effector, and a blade cooling system. The end effector comprises a clamp arm and an ultrasonic blade that may be coupled with an ultrasonic transducer. The clamp arm is configured to pivot toward and away from the ultrasonic blade. The cooling system is operable to deliver liquid coolant to the ultrasonic blade to thereby cool the ultrasonic blade. The user input feature is operable to both actuate the clamp arm and actuate the cooling system.

Features to drive fluid toward an ultrasonic blade of a surgical instrument

A surgical apparatus comprises a body, a shaft assembly, a rotation input assembly, and an end effector. The shaft assembly defines a longitudinal axis and a first fluid passageway. The rotation input assembly is operable to rotate the shaft assembly about the longitudinal axis. The rotation input assembly defines a second fluid passageway. The second fluid passageway is in fluid communication with the first fluid passageway. The end effector is located at a distal end of the shaft assembly. The end effector comprises an ultrasonic blade. The end effector is in fluid communication with the first fluid passageway such that the end effector is configured to receive fluid communicated through the first and second fluid passageways.

A surgical apparatus comprises a body, a shaft assembly, an end effector, and a blade cooling system. The shaft assembly couples the end effector and the body together. The shaft assembly comprises an acoustic waveguide and defines an interior space. The acoustic waveguide is configured to couple with an ultrasonic transducer. The end effector comprises a clamp arm and an ultrasonic blade in acoustic communication with the ultrasonic transducer. The clamp arm is configured to pivot toward and away from the ultrasonic blade. The shaft assembly comprises an inner tube configured to longitudinally translate to thereby pivot the clamp arm toward and away from the ultrasonic blade. The cooling system is operable to deliver liquid coolant a distal portion of the shaft. A trigger of the body is operable to rotate to thereby translate the ultrasonic blade into and out of the interior space of the shaft assembly to thereby cool the ultrasonic blade.

Ultrasonic surgical instrument with blade cooling through retraction

An electromechanical actuator () suitable, for example, in hearing aid applications is disclosed. Certain embodiments of the actuator comprise a hermetic titanium housing (), a mechanical output structure () emulating the long process of incus (), and means for efficiently generating movement in the audible frequency range. The electromechanical actuator () may be configured to be coupled to the inner ear fluids via a conventional stapes prosthesis. The implantable actuator (), which may be considered to be operably equivalent to a loudspeaker of a conventional hearing aid, may bypass the outer and the middle ear in order to directly drive the inner ear fluids. As such, embodiments of the electromechanical actuator of the present invention may be used to remedy any source of conductive hearing loss. Additionally, certain embodiments of the electromechanical actuator may be configured to provide sufficiently high output levels to treat severe sensorineural hearing loss while being sufficiently small to completely fit into a human mastoid.
