Methods of improving Mooney stability of a brominated elastomer comprising: neutralizing a brominated elastomer effluent with a neutralizing agent and water to form a neutralized effluent comprising a hydrocarbon solvent; removing the solvent from the neutralized effluent to form a brominated elastomer slurry; and separating a brominated elastomer from the brominated elastomer slurry, wherein a Mooney stabilizer package comprising an amine-functional hindered amine stabilizer (HAS) and an acid scavenger can be added, together or separately, before the removing step are provided herein. The acid scavenger can comprise a protonatable atom with a pKa greater than the pKa of the HAS nitrogen atom. The separated brominated elastomer can have a delta Mooney of not more than about 10 Mooney units after &#x2dc;7 days at &#x2dc;80&#xb0; C. Stabilized brominated elastomer compositions can be made using this method, and articles can be made from those compositions.

Halogenated elastomers with Mooney viscosity stability and method for preparing same

This invention relates to a brominated elastomer composition comprising a free radical scavenger. The scavenger is present in the amount of at least about 0.05 wt % of the composition. The scavenger is added to the composition so that the Mooney viscosity of the composition does not increase by more than about 15% to about 40%, for up to about 15 days at 80&#xb0; C. The scavenger can be a sterically hindered nitroxyl ether, a nitroxyl radical, or both.

Methods of improving crosslinkability of polyethylene polymer comprising polar comonomer and polymer compositions

Process for pelletizing polyethylene resin are disclosed, the processes providing pelletized resin having reduced occurrence of defects such as black specks. Polyethylene resin is conveyed in a downstream direction through a mixer having a feed zone, a melt-mixing zone downstream of the feed zone, and a melt-conveying zone downstream of the melt-mixing zone; contacted with nitrogen gas in the melt-conveying zone; and conveyed through a mixer discharge to form pellets. Also disclosed are processes of forming films from such resins, the films having reduced occurrence of gels, and articles such as blow molded or injection molded articles.

Method of processing polyethylene resins

Melt processed linear polyethylenes containing an amine additive are shown to exhibit improved processability through the addition of certain surfactants. The amine compounds are generally one or more hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), amine antistats, amine antioxidants or amine based UV inhibitors. Among the melt processing parameters improved are reduced head pressure, reduced torque, reduced motor load, reduced or eliminated melt fracture, or combinations of these parameters. The surfactants can be chosen from a non-aromatic sulfonate or sulfate salt wherein a cation of the salt is selected from the group consisting of Na, K, Li, and other alkali cations and a quaternary ammonium cations, said surfactant being essentially free of halogens.

Method of melt processing amine containing polyethylenes

Emulsion delivery systems for applying anti-stick additives to polymer particles, provide free-flowing particles of polymers or polymer blends, that without the anti-stick additives tend to agglomerate. The agglomeration presents storage and handling difficulties. The anti-stick additives are selected from the group consisting of primary amides, secondary amides, ethylene bisamides, waxes, talc and silica.
