Systems and methods for establishing a communication interface between control functions of a network core and a network data node associated with a user side packet core are discussed herein. The system can enable configuration information to be stored and dynamically updated by the network data node such that control nodes of the user side packet core requesting service from the network core are provided with up to date configuration information associated with active control functions. As control functions are activated and deactivated, the configuration information can be updated to reflect the current state of the network core and ensure that user device connects are routed to active control functions configured to provide user requested services.

P-CSCF registration and discovery mechanism

Disclosed is a system and method to route a call from a roaming UE on a 5G network. The system receives from a UE belonging to a home network an indication of a call to a dialed number. The call requires information associated with the UE that is not available to the first wireless telecommunication network, because the UE is roaming on a visitor network. The indication of the call includes a unique identifier of the visitor network. The system can determine based on the unique identifier that the UE is roaming and send a request to the visitor network to provide instructions on how to route the received call. Upon obtaining the instructions on how to route the received call, the system routes the received call.

Call routing while roaming on a 5G wireless telecommunication network

A network may include an International Serials Data System (ISDS) that is configured to register and determine an identity of a receiving or originating user equipment (UE) that has a home network that operates using a different format or standard than the current network. The ISDS may be configured to generate transmissions on behalf of the UE for registration and identification for outgoing and incoming voice or text messages using the format of both networks.

Architecture for providing cellular roaming support

Solutions for providing a data traffic session with proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF) restoration include: receiving an indication, by an application server (AS), that a user equipment (UE) is registered with a first proxy node; receiving, at a subscriber information node, from a call session control function (e.g., over an N70 interface), a first message triggering proxy node restoration; based on at least receiving the first message triggering proxy node restoration, transmitting, by the subscriber information node, to a management node, a second message triggering proxy node restoration; receiving an indication, by the AS, that the UE is registered with a second proxy node different than the first proxy node; and based on at least receiving a session initiation message, establishing the data traffic session for the UE with the second proxy node.

Proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF)

An improved telecommunications network that can reduce the network load on a rich communication services (RCS) server and/or local routers that implement 1-to-N and/or M-to-N services is described herein. In particular, the improved telecommunications network may include an improved RCS server that can route secure multicast messages instead of and/or in addition to unicast messages. For example, the improved RCS server can create a multicast group for a group of UEs in response to a request from a UE to create a group of UEs. Creation of the multicast group may include creating a shared multicast group key (SMGK) for the multicast group and/or selecting a security algorithm for the multicast group. The improved RCS server can then distribute the SMGK and/or the selected security algorithm to the UEs such that the UEs can use the SMGK and/or the selected security algorithm to encrypt and/or decrypt messages.

Secure rich communication services multicast system

An improved telecommunications network that can reduce the network load on a rich communication services (RCS) server and/or local routers that implement 1-to-N and/or M-to-N services is described herein. In particular, the improved telecommunications network may include an improved RCS server that can route multicast messages instead of and/or in addition to unicast messages. For example, the improved RCS server can create a multicast group for a group of UEs in response to a request from a UE to create a group of UEs. Creation of the multicast group may include assigning a group Internet protocol (IP) address to the multicast group. The improved RCS server can then determine which UEs in the multicast group are capable of sending and/or receiving multicast messages, and send multicast messages instead of unicast messages to these UEs.

Rich communication services multicast system

When operational, a first node of an IMS network handles a registration of a UE on the IMS network, and receives a first request to reregister the UE with the IMS network. The first node creates a registration confirmation, and sends the registration confirmation to the UE. The second node of the IMS network receives a second request to reregister the UE with the IMS network and an indication that the first node has failed. The second node reduces IMS network congestion by avoiding reporting to the UE that the first node has failed, and by sending a message confirming reregistration. Upon receiving the message, the UE considers the registration valid for a predetermined period. Upon expiration of the predetermined period the UE sends a request to reregister. The message prevents the UE from congesting the IMS network.

Reducing IMS network congestion when a node in the IMS network becomes unavailable

Methods, devices, and system related to providing service-based interfaces between network functions and a proxy call session control function for Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem services. In one example aspect, a method for wireless communication includes retrieving, by a proxy call session control function, an address of an access and mobility management function from a unified data management function. The proxy call session control function is configured to communicate with the unified data management function directly via a first service-based interface. The method also includes retrieving, by the proxy call session control function, information from the access and mobility management function. The proxy call session control function is configured to communicate with the access and mobility management function directly via a second service-based interface.

Service-based architecture for internet protocol multimedia subsystem

Solutions for providing a data traffic session with proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF) restoration include: receiving an indication, by an application server (AS), that a user equipment (UE) registered with a first proxy node; receiving, by the AS, from a call session control function, a first indication that the first proxy node is unavailable; based on at least receiving the first indication that the first proxy node is unavailable, transmitting, by the AS, to a subscriber information node, a first message triggering proxy node restoration (e.g., over an N71 interface); receiving an indication, by the AS, that the UE is registered with a second proxy node different than the first proxy node; and based on at least receiving a session initiation message, establishing the data traffic session for the UE with the second proxy node.

Proxy-call session control function (P-CSCF) restoration

Techniques and systems for selectively implementing a silent retry procedure after a voice session has moved from a preferred IP-based system (e.g., 5GS) to a legacy IP-based system (e.g., EPS) are disclosed. The silent retry procedure may be implemented by a UE and/or by a TAS using one or more specific error codes and/or timeouts. In this manner, after a voice session has been redirected or handed over from a preferred system (e.g., 5GS) to a legacy system (e.g., EPS), and based on an issue arising that prevents the voice session from being successfully established thereafter, the UE or the TAS may reattempt to establish the voice session directly in the legacy system, instead of allowing the UE to transition back to the preferred system (e.g., 5GS) after a session failure in the legacy system, which increases the overall success rate of establishing voice sessions.

Silent retry in a legacy system

Methods, devices, and system related to consistent and reliable local breakout for roaming devices are disclosed. In one example aspect, a method for wireless communication includes transmitting, by a user equipment that roams into a visited network, a request to a network node in the visited network to establish a connection using a first access technology. The method includes receiving, by the terminal device, a response from the network node. The response comprises an address of a gateway in the visited network. The gateway is configured to provide a secured tunnel to the terminal device for data transmissions using a second access technology. The method also includes initiating, by the terminal device, a connection with the gateway using the second access technology based on the address of the gateway, and performing, by the terminal device, data transmissions using the second access technology via the gateway in the visited network.
