Systems and methods for measuring the integrity of insulation components in energized or de-energized electrical systems. Using a digital modulation/demodulation system, an active monitoring system adds a modulated high frequency signal to an injected signal and demodulates the resulting signal to provide voltages and currents that are measured and used to determine the capacitances and power factors of the insulation components. Systems may be used for on-line detection and measurement of power factor and capacitance of electrical equipment such as transformers, reactors, and condenser type bushings. The present disclosure is especially applicable to the electrical power industry.

Digital modulation/demodulation with active monitoring for measurement of power factor and capacitance in high-voltage bushings, transformers, reactors, and other electrical equipment with high-voltage insulation

Systems and methods for measuring the integrity of insulation components in electrical systems. In preferred embodiments, an active sensor is coupled to a test tap of a bushing, the active sensor having an electrical circuit electrically coupled to the test tap, and wherein the electrical circuit includes a high pass filter that divides the electrical circuit into a high frequency bus and a power frequency bus. A grounded high frequency voltage is injected into the test tap via the frequency bus circuit. Resulting voltages and currents may be measured and compared to a reference voltage to determine capacitances and power factors for both the inner and outer sections of the bushing. Once the capacitances and power factors of the bushings are known, grounded and ungrounded high frequency voltages may be injected to determine capacitances and power factors of a connected transformer or reactor.

Active monitoring systems for high voltage bushings and methods related thereto

The present invention is a unique system for liquid-immersed transformers and reactors with complex internal thermal gradients that provides telemetry on multiple transformer or reactor conditions including: the level and volume of the liquid, the integrity of the winding clamping, the overall tank pressure, the gas pressure for gas blanketed transformers, and the condition of the breather for conservator type transformers or reactors, and the impacts from ballistics on the tank or cooling system. The present invention can be used on conservator type or gas blanketed type transformers. The liquid level can be calculated at any level in the transformer or reactor by the location of the oil pressure sensor at the bottom of the tank. The method for calculating liquid level does not require liquid temperature measurement. Average liquid temperature is calculated rather than estimated from discrete measurements, providing accurate average temperature values under all operating conditions.

Electronic liquid level sensing device and gauge for liquid-immersed power transformers, reactors and similar equipment

A case for multiple pairs of eyeglasses has a top surface and an opposing bottom surface, a front surface and an opposing back surface and defines a volume for receiving eyeglasses with a length orientation of the eyeglasses substantially parallel to the front of the case. The case is formed from a cover portion and a base portion, hinged together at a pivot line that extends across the bottom of the case parallel to the length orientation of a pair of eyeglasses stored in the case. Preferably, the pivot line is offset on the bottom of the case so as to be closer to the back than the front. The pivot line forms a part of a mating line between the cover portion and the base portion. Preferably, the mating line extends obliquely upward from the bottom, across the ends of the case, and across the top. A divider separates the internal volume of the case into two compartments, each accommodating one pair of eyeglasses. The compartments are offset obliquely, allowing the top-to-bottom dimension of the case to be minimized for easier, more convenient carrying in a jacket or shirt pocket, while still allowing the use of rigid material, providing better protection for the eyeglasses than can be provided in a soft-sided case.
