Hydroxyl-containing copolymers of butylene oxide and ethylene oxide having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 150, an average of 1.8 to 6 hydroxyl groups per molecule of which hydroxyl groups at least 70% are primary hydroxyl groups and an oxyethylene content of no greater than 10% by weight based on the weight of the copolymer, are useful for making polyurethanes. These polyols are characterized by high reactivity and fast curing times. Polyurethanes made using these polyols have excellent mechanical properties and are highly hydrophobic.

Polyurethanes are made in a one-shot process from one or more polyols having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, wherein at least 50% of the weight of iii) is a hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide, the hydroxyl-containing polymer of propylene oxide having a hydroxyl equivalent weight of at least 350, an average of 1.8 to 3 hydroxyl groups per molecule of which hydroxyl groups 40 to 70% are primary hydroxyl groups, an oxyethylene content of no greater than 10% by weight based on the weight of the polymer and a polydispersity of 1.175 or less. The polyurethanes exhibit excellent mechanical properties, are highly hygroscopic and cured rapidly.

A room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition comprises: (A) an organopolysiloxane having alkoxysilyl-containing groups at both molecular terminals; (B) an organopolysiloxane resin; (C) an alkoxysilane; and (D) a condensation-reaction catalyst. The room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition exhibits good to excellent storage stability. In addition, the room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition can form a cured product exhibiting good to excellent mechanical properties.

Room temperature curable organopolysiloxane composition and electric/electronic apparatus

A composition for forming a foamed silicone elastomer is disclosed. The composition comprises: A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; B) an organohydrogensiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; C) a hydrosilylation catalyst; D) a chemical blowing agent; and E) a physical blowing agent. The hydrosilylation catalyst C) is present in a catalytically effective amount. The chemical blowing agent D) has at least one hydroxyl (OH) group, and is present in an amount to provide a OH content &#x3e;0 and &#x3c;500 parts per million (ppm). The physical blowing agent E) undergoes a phase change from a liquid to a gaseous state during exposure to atmospheric pressure and a temperature &#x2265;0&#xb0; C. The blowing agents D) and E) are different from one another. A foamed silicone elastomer, and methods of forming the composition and foamed silicone elastomer are also disclosed.

A weather-resistive coating composition comprises from 21 to 25 weight percent of aromatic isocyanate with a functionality of at least 2.0, from 28 to 32 weight percent of polyol, from 4 to 8 weight percent of a diol having a molecular weight in the range of from 80 to 200, from 38 to 42 weight percent of filler having a particle size of no greater than 400 micrometers, and from 0.01 to 0.03 weight percent of a catalyst, wherein the coating composition has a water vapor permeability of at least 16 grains per mper 1 hour per 3.4 kPa of mercury, and the coating composition is a component of a building wall or roofing structure.
