A foot for a robotic exoskeleton includes three rigid foot segments, namely a middle foot segment arranged to be connected to a leg of the robotic exoskeleton, a front foot segment elastically connected to the front end of the middle foot segment by a first set of leaf springs and a rear foot segment elastically connected to the rear end of the middle foot segment by a second set of leaf springs. The foot has laces for fastening the foot to a person's shoe. In the condition where the front foot segment and the rear foot segment are both in contact with the ground, and no load is applied onto the foot, the middle foot segment is not in contact with the ground, but is elastically suspended by the first and second sets of springs.

The driving system comprises: a first support structure; a second support structure supported by the first support structure for rotation about a stationary axis of rotation; a first actuation unit having a first motor device and a first output member; and a second actuation unit having a second motor device and a second output member. The first output member is drivingly connected with the second support structure for rotation about the first axis of rotation. The first motor device controls the rotation of the first output member, along with the second support structure, about the first axis of rotation. The second output member is supported by the second support structure for rotation about a second axis of rotation. The second motor device controls the rotation of the second output member about the second axis of rotation.

An actuation device () comprising a threaded shaft () connected at one end to driving means adapted to allow the threaded shaft () to rotate about its longitudinal axis (a). A movable element () is provided with a cylindrical cavity () adapted to receive the threaded shaft (), and configured so that a rotation of the threaded shaft () corresponds to a translation the movable element () along the longitudinal axis (a). The device () has two guiding rods (') coupled to the movable element () and adapted to constrain the translation of the latter along a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis (a). Element () comprises a first () and a second () element constrained to each other, wherein the first element () is coupled to the threaded shaft () and the second element () is coupled to the two guiding rods (&#x2032;).

Actuator for exoskeleton

An actuator () includes a body (), an output member () slidably received in the body () along&#x2014; a first axis (X), an electric motor () arranged to set into rotation a motor shaft () about a, second axis (X) and a motion conversion mechanism () for converting the rotary motion produced by the electric motor () about the second axis (X) into a translational motion of the output member () along the first axis (X). The motion conversion mechanism () includes a driving pulley () which is drivingly connected for rotation with the motor shaft () and an elongated mechanical transmission member which is wound onto the driving pulley () and is fastened at its two opposite ends to the output member () to draw this latter in either direction along the first axis (X) as a result of the rotation of the driving pulley () in either direction. The output member () is shaped as a rod and is received in a cylindrical cavity () of the body () so as to project partially therefrom. The elongated mechanical transmission member (S) is fastened to the output member () at axially opposite points of this latter with respect to the driving pulley ().
