A low cost fundus camera uses LED light sources placed adjacent the camera's imaging stop, and thereby eliminates the need for optics for introducing the light source to the camera's optical path. Lens reflex in the pupil relay is avoided by using only reflective optics in the pupil relay. Reflex from the LED is mitigated by actuating each LED separately, one at a time, and capturing a separate image with each actuated LED. Reflex-free regions of each captured image are extracted and combined to create a composite reflex-free image.

Low cost fundus imager with integrated pupil camera for alignment aid

A medical ophthalmic system uses a patient-specific face mask to establish a predefined alignment between the ophthalmic system and an eye of a patient. The patient-specific face mask may optionally provide a light proof enclosure for the eye. The face mask may be coupled directly to an ophthalmic device, or its housing/enclosure, of the ophthalmic system. The face mask may be 3D printed based on a 3D model of the patient's face.

Personalized patient interface for ophthalmic devices

An optical coherence tomography (OCT) system () is used to inspect bonding points (A,B,C) sandwiched between two materials (layersof e.g. displays). The OCT differentiates between a bonding point, e.g. a weld, and air gaps between the two materials. The bonding points are identified as breaks in the air gap between the materials. By extracting various physical characteristics of the bonding points and the gap between the two materials, the present system determines whether the bonding is faulty.

These displays are used during image acquisition to align patients and verify acquisition image quality. User interface for efficiently displaying relevant OCT imaging data

Improved scanning ophthalmoscopes for scanning the retina of an eye are discussed in the present disclosure. One example scanning ophthalmoscope includes an uncollimated light source, a first scanning element, a second scanning element, a slit of a first aspherical mirror, and a second aspherical mirror. The uncollimated light source produces a beam of light to illuminate the retina. The beam of light is relayed from the first scanning element onto the second scanning element by the slit of the first aspherical mirror. The second aspherical mirror relays the beam of light from the second scanning element to the pupil of the eye.

An optical coherence tomography device is disclosed for improved imaging. Reduced levels of speckle in the images generated by the device are obtained by forming a B-scan from a plurality of A-scans, wherein each resolution cell of the B-scan is generated through compounding of a subset of the A-scans and wherein at least some of the subset of A-scans are separated by at least half the diameter of a speckle cell both tangent to and orthogonal to the B-scan at that cell.
