Systems and methods for implementing two-way tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) learning and authenticated pairing. A random value may be used to determine a test value and a pairing PIN by use of a HMAC (Hash-based Message Authentication Code) function and a pre-shared key that is accessible to a TPMS sensor and a vehicle (e.g., controller system thereof). The random value and test value may be broadcasted by the TPMS sensor and received by the vehicle. The vehicle may calculate the pairing PIN using the random value and the pre-shared key.

Two-way tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) learning and authenticated pairing

This disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods that guard against information piracy by selective activation of tire pressure sensor learning operations in a vehicle. An example method can include receiving, by a processor in a vehicle, a sensor signal from a wheel movement sensor provided in a wheel of the vehicle. The processor may evaluate the sensor signal and detect a tire-changing operation. The tire-changing operation may be detected, for example, based on a major surface of the wheel coming in contact with ground or determining that an angular displacement of a major surface of the wheel exceeds a threshold angle. The processor may then enable a learning mode of operation that can include a wireless pairing of a tire pressure sensor in the wheel to a tire pressure monitoring system of the vehicle. The processor disables the learning mode of operation after a period of time.

Systems and methods to selectively activate TPMS learning mode operations in a vehicle

Detection and prevention of resource drain from unauthorized wireless device connections is provided. Responsive to receiving of a connection request from a connecting device, a pre-authentication message is sent to the connecting device, the pre-authentication message including a challenge value. A vehicle hash result is computed using a hash function taking the challenge value and the unique identifier of the vehicle as inputs. A device hash result is received from the connecting device. Responsive to a match of the vehicle hash result and the device hash result, additional hardware of the vehicle is activated to perform a secondary authentication of the connecting device. Responsive to a mismatch, authentication of the connecting device is rejected without activation of the additional hardware, thereby avoiding key-off load from the additional hardware in instances where pre-authentication of the connecting device fails.

Unauthorized device resource drain prevention

Utilizing an access device is provided. A command mapping of user input to RKE commands is utilized to identify a RKE command based on the user input to one or more motion or orientation sensor of the access device. Responsive to the environmental input from one or more environmental sensors of the access device being indicative of command entry, a transceiver of the access device is activated, the RKE command is sent, and the transceiver is deactivated. Otherwise, the user input of the RKE command is ignored.

Enhancing operation of powered tools is provided. Access permissions for tools and access devices are stored to in vehicle memory. Presence of a tool within proximity to the vehicle is detected. Presence of access devices configured to provide access to the vehicle are detected utilizing passive access functionality of the vehicle. Access to an auxiliary power source of the vehicle is allowed for powering the tool responsive to the access permissions granting access due to the presence of the access devices.

A system comprises a computer including a processor and a memory. The memory storing instructions executable by the processor to cause the processor to detect a roadside device via at least one vehicle sensor of a plurality of vehicle sensors; determine a location of a vehicle based on a fixed location of the roadside device; determine a location correction adjustment, wherein the location correction adjustment comprises a difference between an assumed location of the vehicle and the determined location of the vehicle, wherein the assumed location is obtained from a navigation system of the vehicle; and adjust the assumed location based on the location correction adjustment.

A vehicle subscribed to an authentication system includes a wireless transceiver; and a controller, configured to responsive to receiving a wireless signal from a device identified as a key fob via the wireless transceiver, obtain history data reflecting time and location of the key fob associated with the vehicle detected via one or more entities subscribed to the authentication system, calculate a sanity value using the history data, such that a distant detection location from the vehicle location at a time before present time results in a lesser sanity value and a nearby detection location from the vehicle location at substantially the same time before the present time results in a greater sanity value, calculate a sanity threshold using at least one of the present time and the vehicle location, and responsive to the sanity value being greater than the sanity threshold, unlock a door of the vehicle.

System for preventing vehicle key fob relay attacks

A computer-implemented method includes predicting, via a predictive analytical model, a time interval associated with a future key-on event for a vehicle. The predictive analytical model is based at least in part on key-on event data. The method includes generating, based at least in part on the predicted time interval, a power mode instruction configured to cause a vehicle Telematics Control Unit (TCU) or Phone as a Key (PaaK) system to change a TCU state from a low energy state to a higher energy state, and transmitting, based on the predicted time interval, the power mode instruction to the vehicle TCU.

Phone as a key predictive vehicle access

The present disclosure relates to aspects of authenticating a mobile device and providing a vehicle access key thereto when a previously registered mobile device is not accessible. In one aspect of the present disclosure, a method includes requesting at a first mobile device, access to a profile associated with controlling operations of a vehicle, the profile having stored thereon an access key for operating the vehicle, the access key having been previously installed on a second mobile device. The method further includes upon successful authorization, receiving the access key at the first device and operating the vehicle using the access key on the first mobile device.

System for controlling operations of a vehicle using mobile devices and related methods thereof

A Phone-as-a-Key (PaaK) system includes a pre-processor, a secure processor disposed in communication with the pre-processor, a cache memory associated with the pre-processor and the secure processor, and a memory for storing executable instructions. The pre-processor and the secured processor are configured to perform steps that can mitigate delay caused by mobile device authentication. For example, the pre-processor authenticates an authentication message associated with a mobile device used as a key for the vehicle, and stores the message in the cache memory. The pre-processor receives a door latch actuation signal, and initializes the secure processor in response. The pre-processor then provides access to the vehicle based on the secure processor initialization instruction, and the authentication message stored in the cache memory. After initialization, the secure processor sends a challenge value for second authorization of the mobile device, and triggers remedial actions if the device fails to respond correctly.

Phone as a key low latency vehicle access

A vehicle includes a controller. The controller is configured to send a nonce encrypted according to a symmetric encryption key. The nonce is sent responsive to receiving a pair request over a personal area network from a nomadic device outside the vehicle. The controller is further configured to initialize a secure connection using a random key and permit vehicle access according to data received via the secure connection. The initialization is responsive to receiving a concatenation of the random key and an incrementation of the nonce encrypted with the symmetric encryption key.
