A reservoir assemblyis provided for a fuel tank of a vehicle. The reservoir assemblyis constructed and arranged to receive an electric fuel pump assemblyor a fuel suction unitin a reservoirthereof. The fuel suction unitand the electric fuel pump assemblyare configured so as to be interchangeably received in the reservoir. This interchangeability advantageously saves design time and, from a supplier's point of view, provides more flexibility since two separate configurations are no longer required.

A coupling valve structureis provided for a fuel supply module. The module has a fuel pumpdisposed in a fuel reservoir, a feed linein fluid communication with an outlet of the fuel pump for feeding fuel to a high pressure pumpand thus to an engine, and a return linefor returning excess fuel from the engine or high pressure fuel pump to the reservoir. The coupling valve structureincludes a check valveconstructed and arranged to communicate with the feed line to permit fuel to be delivered to the engine and to prevent the fuel from draining back to the fuel pump, and a pressure relief valveintegrally connected with the check valve via a conduit. The pressure relief valveis constructed and arranged to communicate with the return line such that when pressure of the fuel at the check valveis outside a certain pressure range, the pressure relief valve will open to permit fuel in the conduit to enter the return line to thereby maintain fuel exiting the check valve within the certain pressure range.
