The invention relates to a method for making granules from strands of a melt of a thermoplastic polymer material having the steps of creating and providing the melt of the material, discharging the material in multiple strands from a perforated plate, impinging the strands with an impinging flow fluid from an impinging flow nozzle, cooling the strands and dividing the strands into individual granules, wherein the strands are impinged by the impinging flow fluid only during discharge from the perforated plate, and wherein, as it is discharged from the impinging flow nozzle, the impinging flow fluid has a temperature above the melting temperature of the material and has a discharge velocity in the range from 50 m/sec to 300 m/sec; the invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method with an impinging flow device that can be pivoted by means of a pivoting joint.

Method and device for making granules

The invention relates to a device for pelletizing at least one strand of material to be pelletized. Said device comprises a cutting device with two blades that can be displaced relative each other, at least one feed roller and at least one strand feeder for feeding the strand to the cutting device. An additional tab-shaped rectification guide is arranged downstream of the strand feeder in the region directly in front of the feed roller and next to the same, said guide being adjustable and movable in relation to the strand feeder. The rectification guide can be used to adjust the angle at which the strand is fed to the feed roller.

Strand pelletizer

The invention relates to a device for granulating plastic strands having a cutting wheel (), the individual blades of which graze past a counter blade () disposed in a blade carrier () when the cutting wheel is rotated, thus cutting the plastic strands () being guided over the counter blade into a granulate (), wherein a rail () composed of hard material running parallel to the counter blade is disposed adjacent to the counter blade and after said counter blade in the rotational direction of the cutting wheel that collects cut granulate and conducts said granulate into a discharge channel. The rail is held in a guide having an undercut () in the blade carrier on both sides, wherein the undercut () facing the counter blade forms a separating strip (), the thickness of which reduces outward in a blade-like fashion such that, along with the other undercut (), the rail assumes an oblique position relative to the counter blade in the transverse direction, wherein the outer edge () of the undercut () facing the counter blade is in close proximity to the opposite front edge () of the counter blade and the other front edge of the rail protrudes in the direction of the cutting wheel.

Device for granulating plastic strands

The invention concerns an extrusion granulator for the granulation of plastic strands gripped by a pair of feed rollers and directed over a slideway in the direction of a cutting rotor with an opposing blade. A guided air stream directed onto the slideway, and deflected perpendicularly towards the cutting rotor by said slideway, impinges on the strands carried on the slideway with such a speed that the strands are held in a parallel orientation by the air stream.

Extrusion granulator for granulation of plastic strands

The invention relates to a device for producing pellets from plastic material or from material to be pelletized. Said device comprises a continuous casting device () from which at least one strand () of the material to be pelletized is issued, and a belt conveyor () comprising at least one conveying belt () on which the strand () can be fed to a pelletizer (), said pelletizer breaking the strand up into pellets (). The invention is characterized in that the belt conveyor () has a switchable direction of conveyance of the conveying belt (), a direction of feed conveyance towards the pelletizer () and a direction of discharge conveyance away from the pelletizer (). The invention also relates to a method for operating said device.

An apparatus for pelletizing strands of polymer emerging in molten form from dies with a pelletizer, in which apparatus a cooling section carrying a coolant flow and a dewatering section are provided between the dies and the pelletizer, a running-in rest being arranged upstream of the pelletizer, adjoining the dewatering section and provided with at least one air-nozzle arrangement, which is arranged transversely to the running direction of the strands, is designed as a step in the running-in rest and is intended for generating a stream of air directed essentially parallel to the running direction of the strands, which takes with it the strands supplied to the running-in rest.
