One aspect of the invention relates to a fully automatic method for calculating the current, geo-referenced position and alignment of a terrestrial scan-surveying device in situ on the basis of a current panoramic image recorded by the surveying device and at least one stored, geo-referenced 3D scan panoramic image.

Method for ascertaining the suitability of a position for a deployment for surveying

A laser scanner and a system with a laser scanner for measuring an environment. The laser scanner includes an optical distance measuring device, a support, a beam steering unit rotatably fixed to the support which rotates around a beam axis of rotation. The beam steering unit includes a mirrored surface which deflects radiation used in the optical distance measurement and an angle encoder for recording angle data. The optical distance measurement is performed by a progressive rotation of the beam steering unit about the beam axis of rotation and the continuous emission of a distance measurement radiation, the emission being made through an outlet area arranged in the direction of the mirrored surface on the support, the receiving optics for receiving radiation are arranged on the support, and wherein the outlet area has a lateral offset with respect to the optical axis of the receiving optics.

Laser scanner

An inclination sensor for determining an angle of inclination relative to the gravitational vector includes comprising a fluid container and a first pressure sensor pair configured to measure a hydrostatic pressure in the connecting fluid. Temperature sensors are assigned to the sensors. A processor is configured to determine: a relative height (h) in the direction of gravity between the pressure sensors, an angle of inclination with respect to the gravitational vector based on the determined relative height (h) and the fixed locations of the pressure sensors, and relative height in the direction of gravity and the angle of inclination, also based on the measured temperatures.

A device for determining the relative heights between two points in direction gravity acts and inclination sensor for single- or multi-axis determination of an inclination relative to the vertical direction defined by the gravitational field. The device can include: a connecting hose filled with a liquid; a first and a second pressure sensor arranged at opposite ends of the hose; a processor to determine a relative height between a first reference point with a fixed positional relationship to the first pressure sensor and a second reference point with a fixed positional relationship to the second pressure sensor; a synchronizer; a respective wireless module at each of the hose. The synchronizer can synchronize a first time point with a second measurement time point, wherein the processor is configured to assign the measured hydrostatic pressures to the same, common measurement time point on the basis of the synchronized measurement time points.

Pressure sensor including height determination with improved flexibility and reliability

A measuring system comprising a measuring apparatus including a first portion comprising a first casing, a first length measuring body, a first length measuring device, and a first reference point. A first end of the first length measuring body is attached to the first casing, a second end extends away from the first casing, the first length measuring device measures a first distance between the second end and the first reference point; a second portion comprising a second casing, a second length measuring body, a second length measuring device, and a second reference point. A first end of the second length measuring body is attached to the second casing, a second end extends away from the second casing, the second length measuring device measures a second distance between the second end and the second reference point. The first and second portion are coupled and rotate relative to each other.

Measuring system

A system is disclosed that comprises a camera module and a control and evaluation unit. The camera module is designed to be attached to the surveying pole and comprises at least one camera for capturing images. The control and evaluation unit has stored a program with program code so as to control and execute a functionality in which a series of images of the surrounding is captured with the at least one camera; a SLAM-evaluation with a defined algorithm using the series of images is performed, wherein a reference point field is built up and poses for the captured images are determined; and, based on the determined poses, a point cloud comprising 3D-positions of points of the surrounding can be computed by forward intersection using the series of images, particularly by using dense matching algorithm.

A laser scanner device adapted to be mounted to a vehicle, the device comprising a LIDAR module, the LIDAR module comprising at least one laser source, characterized by a horizontal field of view of at least 60&#xb0;, an instantaneous vertical field of view of at least &#xb1;2&#xb0;, a scan resolution of at least one point per 0.8&#xb0; in horizontal and vertical direction, and a frame rate of at least 10 Hz for scanning at least the entire horizontal and instantaneous vertical field of view with said scan resolution.
