A water separating device of a filter element for separating water from a liquid hydrocarbon has a coalescing medium in the from of a hollow body and designed to coalesce water droplets of the liquid hydrocarbon passing through the coalescing medium in a flow direction of the liquid hydrocarbon. A hydrophobic separating medium in the form of a hollow body and permeable for the liquid hydrocarbon is provided. The hydrophobic separating medium is arranged in a flow direction of the liquid hydrocarbon downstream of the coalescing medium and separates water droplets of the liquid hydrocarbon from the liquid hydrocarbon. At least one precipitation gap is formed between the coalescing medium and the separating medium.

Water separating device, filter element of a fuel filter and a fuel filter

A filter medium of a filter element for filtering a fluid has at least one nonwoven filter layer of synthetic individual fibers. The filter layer has an increasing level of compression in a flow direction of a fluid passing through the filter medium. The filter medium has a degree of separation for particles to be filtered that increases in the flow direction of the fluid through the filter medium. The filter medium is used in a filter element for filtering fluids such as fuel or air. In a method for producing the filter medium, the synthetic fibers are deposited on a support surface in such a way that an increasing level of compression is created in a direction toward the support surface by gravity and suction acting on the fibers.

A filter medium for removing particles from a fluid flow has a pre-filter layer and a fine-filter layer joined to each other in the flow direction. A first supporting layer is attached to the unfiltered side of the pre-filter layer and a second supporting layer is attached to the filtered side of the fine-filter layer in order to absorb the longitudinal and transverse forces in the event of tensile loading. The traverse force absorbing layer has a greater bending stiffness in a traverse direction while the longitudinal force absorbing layer has a greater bending stiffness in a longitudinal direction.

A fuel filter has a coalescent element for separating water from fuel, a prefilter element, a main filter element, and a common central tube, wherein the coalescent element, the prefilter element, and the main filter element are arranged sequentially along the common central tube. A fuel filter arrangement has a housing in which the fuel filter is arranged. The common central tube of the fuel filter is attached to the housing, wherein between the fuel filter and the housing an annular space is formed.

A filter device for filtering liquids having a filter element situated in a filter housing, with a deformable expansion element being provided in the filter housing so that when it is deformed, the volume of at least one section of the flow path of the liquid to be filtered in the filter housing is variable.

A filter with a cylindrical filter cartridge in which the filter cartridge has a recess, through which functional parts, such as a water level sensorand a water discharge tube, can be inserted. This filter may be used, for example, as a fuel filter in which the separated water can be removed from the housing through the functional parts. The functional parts are arranged on a support memberand extended through the recessin the filter cartridge, and can be accommodated in a space saving manner on the housing cover. As a result, the fuel filter can be accommodated particularly in cramped installation spaces in the engine compartment of an internal combustion engine.
