According to various aspects, a self-service terminal () may include: a user interface () accessible to a user of the self-service terminal (); a sensing device () configured to sense information about the user; a control device () configured to: determine a physiological condition of the user based on the information; select an interface profile from a plurality of predefined (e.g., saved) interface profiles based on the physiological condition; instruct a reconfiguration of the user interface () based on the selected interface profile.

Self-service terminal and method

In an example embodiment, there is disclosed herein a technique that allows the capabilities of an automated banking machine, such as an ATM, to be upgraded remotely. For example, the banking machine may be sold or leased with an initial configuration. If the customer desires to add additional features, the customer can pay for the features and the manufacturer or dealer can send a signal from a remote host to the automated banking machine with data representative of the upgrade. The banking machine then operates with the upgraded configuration.

Remotely upgradable automated banking machine

An automated transaction machine (ATM) can include a housing, a display, a cash recycler, and a check receiver. The display can be mounted to the housing and directed toward an exterior of the housing. The cash recycler can be configured to receive a first note of currency from a first user of the ATM and dispense the first note of currency to a subsequent, second user of the ATM. The check receiver can be positioned in the housing, an intake portion with an inlet communicating with the exterior of the housing, and a check reader portion configured to receive a check from the intake portion, scan data displayed on the check, and store the check. The intake portion can be positioned below the display and the check reader portion is positioned behind the display.
