A charger device may include a variable turbine geometry having guide vanes mounted rotatably in a van bearing ring. Each guide vane may have a top side that runs in convex fashion from a profile nose to a profile end. A concave recess may be arranged on a bottom side of each guide vane at the profile nose.

An exhaust gas turbocharger may include a turbine housing and a turbine wheel. The turbine wheel may include a first quantity of a plurality of moving blades. The turbine wheel may be rotatable relative to the turbine housing about a turbine wheel center of rotation and have a turbine wheel radius. A variable turbine geometry may include a blade bearing ring on which a second quantity of a plurality of guide blades are rotatably mounted in each case about a guide blade center of rotation. The plurality of guide blades may be adjustable between a closed position, in which a flow cross section between the guide blades for an exhaust gas to flow through is at a minimum, and an opened position, in which the flow cross section is at a maximum.

A method for adjusting a barometric cell may include coupling the barometric cell to a control device via an actuating rod. The actuating rod may be movably mounted on a charging device in any desired position. The method may include applying a freely selectable pressure to the barometric cell so as to bring the actuating rod into contact with a stop, adjusting the barometric cell until a sensor registers a predefined value, and fixing the barometric cell on the charging device.

The invention relates to a starter device () for starting internal combustion engines, comprising an electromagnetic toe-in mechanism which is used to displace an axially displaceable pinion shaft (), starter pinions () which are arranged in the front thereof, in addition to a start-stop mechanism which is embodied in such a manner that in a stop phase of the internal combustion engine, even when the internal combustion engine is stopped, said start-stop mechanism provokes a positioned state of the toe-in mechanism, such that during a subsequent starting of the internal combustion engine, the starter pinion () is already arranged in an advanced position, enabling power loss to be reduced. This is achieved by a maintaining mechanism () which maintains the electromagnetic toe-in mechanism in the advanced position and in a currentless manner during and/or after the stop phase.

In order to make a start-up of an internal combustion engine as quick as possible, whereby an electrical power output, which is as small as possible, is required, it is proposed to at least periodically activate a direct starting control device for the generation of a combustion torque and an electrical starter for the generation of a starter torque simultaneously during the start-up. In so doing, the power output of the electric starter is controlled as a function of a current combustion torque, so that the starter is continually operated only at a currently required power output. For this purpose, the electric starter is, for example, controlled in an open- and/or closed-loop in such a way that the current total torque resulting from the current combustion torque and the current starter torque does not undershoot a specifiable set point torque.

A method for operating an internal combustion engine having at least one triggerable intake valve and at least one triggerable discharge valve, in which the internal combustion engine is directly started in a start-up operating mode and, following the start, is operated in at least one other operating mode. A starting discharge instant of a discharge valve of the internal combustion engine that is used during the start-up operating mode is retarded in time with respect to a standard discharge instant so as to improve the direct start-up characteristics of the internal combustion engine. In addition, to further improve the direct start-up characteristics, it is possible to retard a closing instant of an intake valve that is used during the start-up operating mode with respect to a standard closing instant.
