The present invention relates to the use of the compounds (A) corresponding to formula whereinRis hydrogen; a linear or branched C-Caliphatic hydrocarbon residue comprising 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds;Rindependently from each other are hydrogen; methyl; ethyl; &#x2014;OH; &#x2014;COOR; &#x2014;CH&#x2014;OH; and &#x2014;CH&#x2014;COOR;Ris hydrogen; or a linear or branched C-Caliphatic hydrocarbon residue comprising 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds;Rindependently from each other are hydrogen; methyl; ethyl; &#x2014;OH; &#x2014;COOR; &#x2014;CH&#x2014;OH; and &#x2014;CH&#x2014;COOR;Ris hydrogen; or a linear or branched C-Caliphatic hydrocarbon residue comprising 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds;n is at least 0.1 on average;m1 and m2 independently from each other are 0; or 1;with the proviso, that at least one of the radicals R, Ror Rrepresent a linear or branched C-Caliphatic hydrocarbon residue comprising 0, 1, 2 or 3 double bonds,as solubilizing agent for organic UV filters (B) selected from(B1) benzophenone derivatives;(B2) hydroxyphenyl triazine derivatives; and(B3) trianilino-s-triazine derivatives.

Solubilizing agents for UV filters in cosmetic formulations

Disclosed is the use of an insoluble or sparingly soluble micronized substance class which is not a cosmetic UV absorber and which is dispersed in the oil- or water-phase of a cosmetic or dermatological composition for the enhancement of light protecting action of this cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising at least one cosmetic UV filter which is soluble in the water- or oil-phase. The cosmetic preparation according to the invention shows a remarkable increase in SPF.

Use of benzotriazole derivatives of formula (1), wherein Ris C-Calkyl; CCalkoxy; C-Calkoxycarbonyl; C-Ccycloalkyl; C-Caryl; aralkyl; &#x2014;SOM; a radical of formula (1) Ris hydrogen; CCalkyl; CCalkoxy; halogen, preferably Cl; or hydroxy; Rand Rare each independently of the other hydrogen; or d-Calkyl; m is 1 or 2; n is O or 1; if m=1, Ris hydrogen; unsubstituted or phenyl-substituted d-C-Calkyl; or C-Caryl; if m=2, R2 is the direct bond; or &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;; and p is 1 to 3; for enhancing the photostability of cosmetic or dermatologic compositions comprising at least one further organic UV absorber.

Disclosed is the use of an aqueous dispersion comprising (a) a micronized sparingly soluble organic compound which has a UV-Vis spectrum with a maximum from 380 to 420 nm; and (b) an anionic dispersing agent for protecting the human skin from browning and skin aging.
